In today’s news…

We will gather as a community between first and second period today for our Thanksgiving Prayer Service. Come prepared to pray in Thanksgiving for all of the gifts God has bestowed on us.

Our Thanksgiving liturgy speaker will be Allan Law, who founded a nonprofit called Minneapolis Recreation Development, Inc., that provides food assistance and other emergency needs to the homeless, poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged youth of the Twin Cities. Known as the “Sandwich Guy”, Allan runs the nonprofit out of his apartment, where he maintains 10 freezers to store sandwiches – and he works to help feed the homeless each night from 9pm to 10am.

There are no classes Wednesday-Friday as we observe Thanksgiving. Classes resume on Monday, November 27. May you, your family, and your friends have a blessed Thanksgiving.

On Wednesday, November 29, from 8:15-9:15am, in room B103, parents are invited to join the DeLaSalle Guidance staff for “Coffee with Counselors”. This forum is about shepherding your child’s scholarship search. All are welcome.

Around Christmas Time, for the past 25 years, DeLaSalle High School has “adopted” several families through Sponsor a Family Minnesota and the Aliveness Project. This year we will be adding gifts for homeless youth through Sharing and Caring Hands and Avenues for Homeless Youth. Our “adoptees” have benefited greatly from our generous spirit. Last year the students and staff brought in over $4,000 and we hope to beat that number this year. Several teachers have graciously agreed to be the money collection point for each grade level. Donate money in 9th and 10th grade Theology Classes, 11th and 12th grade English Classes. Money collection is daily and began on Wednesday, November 8 and runs through Friday, December 1. Thank you in advance for your generosities.

Anyone who would like to go Christmas Shopping for our adoptive families, please sign up here. You must be logged into your google apps account. We will shop after school on Friday, December 1 from 3:15-5:30 p.m. Christian Service hours WILL NOT be awarded for this event.
