Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

May the sun bring you new energy by day, May the moon softly restore you by night, May the rain wash away your worries, May the breeze blow new strength into your being, May you walk gently through the world and know its beauty all the days of your life. -Apache Blessing

All college visits take place in the Guidance office B102, unless otherwise noted. In order to meet with a college rep, you must register for the visit through your Naviance account and notify your teacher at least one day before the visit. You may show your teacher your iPad with the registration on Naviance as your pass. Remember, you are responsible for any work you miss during your visit with the college rep.  The Guidance office will give students passes back to class if the visit does not take the whole period.

In today’s news…

All 9th graders will be gathering Tuesday for their class retreat. This is a full day event where they will have the opportunity to meet with classmates, build class unity and share. Attendance is mandatory for all class retreats. If you miss a retreat day, you are required to make up your absence through the guidance of the Lasallian Ministry department. Students must be in uniform on retreat day. Please leave all books, bags, headphones, cell phones, iPads, etc. at home or school. These items are not allowed on retreat. Bring a bag lunch, one beverage will be provided. The retreat will run during the school day only. You will check in to first hour for attendance and will move to the Albers Atrium to board buses, which will bring you to the retreat site. Please come with an open and positive attitude and you will have fun. Please see Ms. Hodapp in Lasallian Ministry with any questions.

Around Christmas, for the past 25 years, DeLaSalle has spiritually adopted several families through Sponsor a Family Minnesota in addition to helping teenagers served by Sharing & Caring Hands and Avenues for Homeless Teens. These recipients have benefited greatly from our generous spirit; last year, students and staff brought in $4,000. Donations are accepted in 9th and 10th grade Theology classes or 11th and 12th grade English classes. Money collection begins November 8, is daily, and runs through December 1. Students will gather after school on December 1 to purchase gifts for the families.

DeLaSalle students who receive need-based financial aid must schedule and complete 10 hours of work-service each year in return for their grant. There are a few spaces left for the next couple of weeks. After school shifts are now being scheduled into the week of November 27. Five-hour daytime shifts are also available on Wednesday, November 22 (the day before Thanksgiving), from Tuesday, December 26 through Friday, December 29, and from Tuesday, January 2 through Friday, January 5. The daytime shifts are from 9:30am-3:00pm. To schedule work service, please contact Mr. Shelstad at 612.676.7614.

The DeLaSalle Cafe will host Meatless Monday Today. Just like our chicken buffalo wrap, delicious and earth friendly.

Our head wrestling coach, Ernie McNeal will be in lunches today to meet students who are interested in wrestling with DeLaSalle. Stop by and say hi!

DeLaSalle Theatre presents this original production, set in 1937, about Chicago’s lowest rated radio station, which is in trouble. The owners are selling and if they can’t find a buyer, they’re all out of work. All they need is one exclusive news story and they’ll be back on top. But when no story can be found, will they resort to inventing a story? Tickets are $15 for reserved seats; $10 for general admission; $8 for students and seniors; and free for De students with a current ID. The show runs November 17 & 18, at 7:30pm in the Florance Center.
