Parent Association Hosts College Planning Parent Panel

Parents, the college search can be an anxious time for you and your child. Learn valuable tips from other parents who have been through the process as part of an informative parent panel at the DeLaSalle Parent Association. All parents are invited to our monthly meeting on Monday, November 13, from 6:30-8:00pm in D104. By virtue of your enrollment at DeLaSalle, you are already a member of the Association, and we welcome your involvement.

DeLaSalle Theatre Presents “Radio News Hour”

DeLaSalle Theatre presents its fall play, “Radio News Hour.” Set in 1937, Chicago’s lowest rated radio station is in trouble. The owners are selling and if they can’t find a buyer, they’re all out of work. All they need is one exclusive news story and they’ll be back on top. But when no story can be found, will they resort to inventing a story? This show is an original production and can only be seen on the island. Showtimes are November 10, 11, 17, and 18, at 7:30pm, in the Florance Center. Middle school students who are interested in attending DeLaSalle may obtain complimentary tickets by contacting Mike O’Keefe at 612-676-7679.

Ninth Graders Go on Retreat November 14

All ninth graders will participate in their first class retreat on Tuesday, November 14. Students should be dressed in school uniform and bring a bag lunch. Students should leave all iPads, books, and other materials at home or school. The ninth grade retreat, led by Youth Frontiers, Inc., focuses on the value of respect.

Students Earn NHS Induction and Other Academic Recognition

Congratulations to the DeLaSalle students who were recognized for their academic achievements at the Academic Awards and National Honor Society Induction Ceremony on November 8. Click here to see a full list of which students earned academic honors.

Around DeLaSalle

DeLaSalle is setting an example for other businesses in Minneapolis to follow when it comes to energy efficiency. The City of Minneapolis recently recognized DeLaSalle as a Challenge Leader in its Building Energy Challenge, with a goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 15 percent by 2020. City officials say DeLaSalle is one of about 15 facilities on pace to meet the challenge. GREEN Team member Mara Halloran ‘18 is pictured here following a City Hall ceremony last week. The winter sports season is getting underway for Islander student athletes. Students may choose to compete in boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ and girls’ hockey, and wrestling. And, for the first time in several decades, Islanders can again participate in boys’ swimming and diving through a co-op program DeLaSalle has formed with St. Anthony and St. Agnes. DeLaSalle Staff Present at Annual Lasallian Conference

Three DeLaSalle staff members will share their knowledge and expertise with colleagues from other Lasallian ministries at the annual Huether Lasallian Conference next weekend in Denver. This year’s conference theme is “One Call, Many Voices: Dialogue, Inspire, Transform.” Art teacher Megan Longman and Social Studies teacher Brad Casey will moderate a breakout session titled “Educational Travel: ‘Together and By Association’”, which will inform others about how DeLaSalle has successfully fostered collegiate and Lasallian partnerships to offer educational travel through its Global Advantage Program. And, Vice President for Lasallian Ministry Peg Hodapp will participate in an opening session panel about prophetic listening, moderated by La Salle University Vice President for Mission, Brother Ernest Miller, FSC.
