Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

Let us never be afraid to risk, to step forward in faith, to conquer our fears and doubts, and to continue to discover our gifts and talents. Amen

Saint John Baptist de La Salle…pray for us.

Live Jesus in our hearts…forever!

In today’s news…

DeLaSalle staff will gather for professional development this morning. Because of the professional development, classes will start two hours later than normal, at 10:30am instead of 8:30am. Morning transportation routes will also run two hours later than normal.

DeLaSalle students who receive need-based financial aid must schedule and complete 10 hours of work-service each year in return for their grant. There are a few spaces left for the next couple of weeks. After school shifts are now being scheduled into the week of November 27. Five-hour daytime shifts are also available on Wednesday, November 22 (the day before Thanksgiving), from Tuesday, December 26 through Friday, December 29, and from Tuesday, January 2 through Friday, January 5. The daytime shifts are from 9:30am-3:00pm. To schedule work service, please contact Mr. Shelstad at 612.676.7614.

Around Christmas, for the past 25 years, DeLaSalle has spiritually adopted several families through Sponsor a Family Minnesota in addition to helping teenagers served by Sharing & Caring Hands and Avenues for Homeless Teens. These recipients have benefited greatly from our generous spirit; last year, students and staff brought in $4,000. Donations are accepted in 9th and 10th grade Theology classes or 11th and 12th grade English classes. Money collection begins November 8, is daily, and runs through December 1. Students will gather after school on December 1 to purchase gifts for the families.

The DeLaSalle Cafe will host Meatless Monday on Monday, November 13. Come and try our new buffalo cauliflower wrap – breaded tender chunks of cauliflower, deep fried and tossed with our hot buffalo sauce, all wrapped up in a tomato basil tortilla with fresh lettuce, diced tomatoes and cheese. Just like our chicken buffalo wrap, delicious and earth friendly.

Want a great way to kick start your day? Come to the upper room (aka The Brothers Chapel) located in Christian Brothers Hall on November 16, 30, and December 7th at 7:50am for a Lasallian Prayer. See you there!

The TableTop Games Club meets today after school in B307. We will be playing Ticket to Ride- can you become De’s greatest railroad baron?

Please join us whether you are a beginning chess player or practically a pro! Drop in any time between 3:00-4:30 on Thursdays in room A208. See Ms. Kocourek if you have any questions.

DeLaSalle Theatre presents this original production, set in 1937, about Chicago’s lowest rated radio station, which is in trouble. The owners are selling and if they can’t find a buyer, they’re all out of work. All they need is one exclusive news story and they’ll be back on top. But when no story can be found, will they resort to inventing a story? Tickets are $15 for reserved seats; $10 for general admission; $8 for students and seniors; and free for De students with a current ID. The show runs November 10, 11, 17, & 18, at 7:30pm in the Florance Center.

Next Monday, November 13, students are needed to serve the dinner meal at Sharing and Caring Hands from 2:35-3:50pm. If you are interested, please email Miss Barry. It will be limited to 8 students.
Are you interested in earning Christian Service hours? If so, volunteer at Yinghua Academy after school Sports Sampler on Tuesdays from 3:35-5:00pm Nov. 28-Jan. 30. If you are interested, please sign up in Mr. CJ Hallman’s office. Please note, there is limited space available for volunteers.
