Hundreds Attend Open House, Schedule Visits and Tours
Thank you! Thank you to the many families and students who have a genuine love for DeLaSalle and continue to encourage your neighbors, relatives, and colleagues to take a look at our school. On October 30, we welcomed 286 families to our Open House for Prospective Students, clearly the highest attendance at any of the Twin Cities Catholic high school Open Houses this fall. On November 1, we began our “Islander for a Day” student visit program, in which prospective students who want to spend a day at DeLaSalle are paired with a current De student with similar interests to experience life as an Islander. Prospective students may sign up for a visit day here. Continue reading

DeLaSalle Holds 2-Hour Late Start November 9
DeLaSalle staff will gather for professional development on Thursday, November 9. Wendall Veurink, from Greater Minnesota Family Services, will present on the topic of student trauma. His presentation will be similar to a seminar he presented at Minnesota Independent School Forum titled, “What Can I Do With What Happened to Me? Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences”. Because of the professional development, classes on November 9 will start two hours later than normal, at 10:30am instead of 8:30am. Morning transportation routes will also run two hours later than normal.
De Day of Giving Raises More Than $100,000
Through the generosity of Islanders near and far, DeLaSalle met and exceeded its $100,000 single-day fundraising goal during the second annual “De Day of Giving.” The one-day fundraising blitz also gave DeLaSalle the opportunity to introduce and grow its Monthly Giving Club. If you would like to make a donation to DeLaSalle, click here. Continue reading

DeLaSalle Theatre Presents “Radio News Hour” Fall Play
November 10, 11, 17, 18, 7:30pm, Florance Center
DeLaSalle Theatre presents this original production, set in 1937, about Chicago’s lowest rated radio station, which is in trouble. The owners are selling and if they can’t find a buyer, they’re all out of work. All they need is one exclusive news story and they’ll be back on top. But when no story can be found, will they resort to inventing a story? Tickets are $15 for reserved seats; $10 for general admission; $8 for students and seniors; and free for De students with a current ID.

Find Winter Sports First Day Practice Information
The first snowflakes of the season have ushered in winter sports at DeLaSalle! Students may choose to compete in boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ and girls’ hockey, and wrestling. And, for the first time in several decades, Islanders can again participate in boys’ swimming and diving through a co-op program DeLaSalle has formed with St. Anthony and St. Agnes. Click here to find when and where teams will hold their first practices or tryouts.
25th Annual Christmas Basket Drive Launches November 8
Around Christmas, for the past 25 years, DeLaSalle has spiritually adopted several families through Sponsor a Family Minnesota in addition to helping teenagers served by Sharing & Caring Hands and Avenues for Homeless Teens. These recipients have benefited greatly from our generous spirit; last year, students and staff brought in $4,000. Donations are accepted in 9th and 10th grade Theology classes or 11th and 12th grade English classes. Money collection begins November 8 and runs daily through December 1. Students will gather after school on December 1 to purchase gifts for the families.
