Thank you to the many families and students continue to encourage your neighbors, relatives, and colleagues to take a look at DeLaSalle. Islanders are Everywhere and we are welcoming prospective families and students from all corners of the Twin Cities.
On October 30, we welcomed 286 prospective students and their families to our first Open House for Prospective Families this year. These families came to look at De from over 70 different middle school backgrounds across the Twin Cities. Our guests were greeted by the De staff and over 80 student ambassadors who were proud to share the mission, community, programming, curriculum, and goals of the school.
The Open House is the first step toward meeting the “early decision” application deadline of February 9 for the Class of 2022. By the ninth, prospective families must complete four steps: submitting (1) an application, (2) at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher (three for merit scholarship consideration), and (3) middle school transcripts, as well as (4) take a national standardized Entrance Exam. The Entrance Exam is scheduled at De on Saturday, January 20, concurrent with a Parent Seminar for prospective parents in the class.

On November 1, we began our “Islander for a Day” student visit program, in which prospective students spend a day at DeLaSalle. Our guests are paired with a current De student with similar interests to experience life as an Islander student — seven classes plus lunch in a Catholic, Lasallian, historic, innovative, authentically diverse and college preparatory school. Over 175 families have already scheduled visits through the month of November with multiple requests coming in every day. Prospective students may sign up for a visit day here.
Many prospective parents are also scheduling individual tours of DeLaSalle during the school day by contacting Vice President, Mike O’Keefe at 612-676-7679.
Mike is assisted in the admissions process by the entire Advancement office and the entire staff of DeLaSalle. In particular, Associate Director of Admission, Lourdes Bunay `11, manages the s”Islander for a Day” program and provides bi-lingual Spanish support for families. Patrick Felicetta `01 continues to provide some support to the admissions efforts after taking on primary duties in March as Major Gifts Officer for the school. Patrick, Lourdes, and Mike are all leading family tours and are available to assist prospective families in any way they should need.
