DeLaSalle Undergoes AdvancEd Accreditation

Thank you to the more than 360 DeLaSalle families who completed a survey within the last two weeks as part of our reaccreditation process through AdvancEd. The survey tool, which was created by AdvancEd, is part of the data collection and analysis that will determine whether DeLaSalle retains its accreditation as a college preparatory high school. DeLaSalle has been accredited since 1929. A team of educators chosen by AdvancEd will visit DeLaSalle February 12-13, 2018, to meet with various stakeholders as they complete their assessment.

Be Aware of the Apps Your Child May Be Using

As part of its curriculum, DeLaSalle teaches students how to be responsible digital citizens, which includes the responsibilities, ethics, and safeguards needed for social media, and the etiquette required as their digital presence matures and grows. While it is difficult to keep up with all the latest apps that teenagers use, CommonSense Media says parents should especially be aware this year of anonymous apps, live streaming, group chatting, and friending, which bring up risks associated with giving blunt “feedback,” broadcasting yourself to the internet, oversharing, and meeting strangers. These apps are not permitted on student iPads under DeLaSalle’s technology use policy. Continue reading  (Another helpful resource is available here)
