In today’s news…

This week we will be celebrating and honoring the rich diversity that is present at DeLaSalle High School and in the world.  It is our hope that the events and programs that are planned for the week will provide a springboard into a yearlong and life long appreciation of the beauty that exists in every aspect of diversity.

Today, we gather for a celebration of culture.  At our event we will have several invited guests and performers.  These people are here to share their talents with us as well as observe our awesome student body in action.  Let’s show them our spirit of respect.

We hope you have enjoyed our 20th annual diversity week: Lasallians Without Limits Diversity Week 2017. A special thank you to the entire DeLaSalle community for your participation in Diversity Week.

DeLaSalle hosts its Open House for Prospective Students and Families on Monday at 7:00pm. So that we can clean our school for our visitors, we ask that you leave school immediately after the last bell at 3:00pm. Thank you for your cooperation.

IT’S OFFICIAL: We have Respect Life Month in October of each year. “The Church,” Pope Benedict said, “is called to proclaim the gift of life, to serve life, and to promote a culture of life.” So we remember all forms and all ages of life that God has given us.

RESPECT LIFE MONTH: FOR THE BABIES!  Give a baby something to snuggle into! PJs! Onesies! Infant sleepers size: newborn to 12 months).  Get your family to donate with you! Our Drive for the Little Ones ends this Friday. Bring items to the Atrium all month.

SWEEET – you are in the home stretch. It’s no trick, this is your final October Madness Treat! Seniors, join our casual work session to start, finalize, or send off your college essay or application. Staff and experts will be on hand to review essays & assist with applications. Please come to B102, Counseling and College Advising Office from 3:10- 4:10pm.

This Parent Association sponsored group will meet Today from 1:45-2:45pm in the Florance Center, to lift up the school community in prayer. Students, staff, and families may place prayer requests in prayer boxes in the Lasallian Ministry office, Main Office, or Theology classroom. Prayer requests may remain anonymous.

DLS Cycling Club will NOT be riding today due to the weather.

The Fellowship Book Club (formerly Lord of the Rings Book Club) will have its first meeting Today. We will meet for 15 minutes right after school in Ms. Wojda’s room (B211) to discuss a reading schedule and meeting dates/times. We will read all of C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia this year and possibly one or more of Lewis’ works after that. As usual, refreshments will be provided. If you are unable to make the meeting but are still interested in the club, please fill out this survey.

The DeLaSalle Fall Island Cleanup, which had been scheduled for Saturday, has been canceled due to the weather. Students looking for ways to help care for the environment can always join the GREEN Team at its regular meeting, each Tuesday after school.

Any student returning to Speech must attend a short meeting on Monday, October 30. Meet in front of the Speech trophy case on the 2nd floor of the A building at 3:15pm.

If you interested in becoming a Eucharistic Minister, there is a training in Room B215 on Monday, October 30 during all lunches.  If you are a confirmed Catholic and would like to serve in this capacity, please plan to come. See Ms. Hodapp or Br. Ryan for questions.
