All college visits take place in the Guidance office B102, unless otherwise noted. In order to meet with a college rep, you must register for the visit through your Naviance account and notify your teacher at least one day before the visit. You may show your teacher your iPad with the registration on Naviance as your pass. Remember, you are responsible for any work you miss during your visit with the college rep.  The Guidance office will give students passes back to class if the visit does not take the whole period.

IT’S OFFICIAL: We have Respect Life Month in October of each year. “The Church,” Pope Benedict said, “is called to proclaim the gift of life, to serve life, and to promote a culture of life.” So we remember all forms and all ages of life that God has given us.

FOR THE BABIES! How can you make a baby’s day, at least for a little while?  Bring a new diaper! Yes, we need diapers for our Drive for the Little Ones. Sizes: new born, 1, 4, 5, 6. Bring items to the Atrium all month.

Jesuit colleges and universities from the United States will bring their Jesuit Excellence Tour (JET) to DeLaSalle Today from 9:00-10:15am in Room D104. Expected colleges are: Creighton University, ​Gonzaga University, John Carroll University, Loyola Marymount University, Loyola University – Chicago, Loyola University – New Orleans, Marquette Universily, Regis University, Rockhurst University, Saint Joseph’s University, Saint Louis University, ​Seattle University, University of San Francisco and Xavier University – Cincinnati.​

Interested students should sign up to attend through their Naviance account and also complete an Anticipated Absence form.

Do you have questions on writing your essay or completing your application? If so, stop by the Counseling and College Advising Office (B102) from 3:10-4:10pm Today. Staff & experts will be on hand to review essays and assist with applications.

DLS Cycling Club will be back at it Today. We will meet in room A206 at 3:15, and we will ride from 3:30-4:30. We will plan to explore the West River Parkway down toward Bohemian Flats to enjoy the beautiful fall colors! All are welcome to join! Please bring your bike to school and lock it outside during the day. All participants must have a helmet in order to ride.

The Robotics Team will have their first interest meeting of the year Today after school in room B311. We will be discussing meeting times, future events of the year, and the competition during next semester. If you are interested in joining the Robotics Team, please plan to visit or talk to Mr. Banas separately.

Quiz Bowl practices have begun, though we are always looking for more participants. We practice after school on Tuesdays and Thursday in B305 . Questions? Contact Mr. Marrin at mmarrin@apps.delasalle.com

The introductory meeting for Math League will be Tuesday at 3:15 in B307. All math enthusiasts (at all grade levels) are invited and encouraged to participate. See Mr. Newman with any questions or if you are interested, but cannot attend.

Come cheer on the Islander volleyball teams Tuesday as they host Nova Classical Academy in their last regular season home games. In addition to Senior NIght, the volleyball program will hold a bake sale in the Main Gym starting at 5:30pm to raise funds for liver cancer awareness and research. Thank you for your support!

Not doing a winter activity already? Come and tryout be a part of a National and State Title winning team!  Competition Cheer is an athletic, fun, and spirited sport that is comprised of dance, gymnastics, stunts, jumps, and cheer. No experience necessary!

Who: Tryouts are open to all 9 – 12 Graders (boys and girls)
What: Please wear shorts and a t-shirt, gym shoes and have your hair pulled back out of your face. We will teach you all of the skills you need to know at tryouts – stunting, dance, jumps, and cheer. We want to see any tumbling you have, but you will not be scored on it! Please fill out the DLS Cheer Registration Form at the back of the DLS Cheer Information Packet and bring it to the Florance Center on the day of tryouts. It must be signed by a parent. Just because there are no classes because of Parent-Teacher conferences and MEA break doesn’t mean students can’t complete work-service hours. Work-service hours are scheduled:

Wednesday, Oct. 18: 2:15-5:15pm
Thursday, Oct. 19: 9:30am-3:00pm (5 hours with a 30-minute lunch)
Friday, Oct. 20: 9:30am-3:00pm (5 hours with a 30-minute lunch)
Monday, Oct. 23: No work service shifts available due to off-site staff development

Current sophomores and juniors can apply for a Global Advantage student exchange. Tenth and eleventh graders will receive an email today with a link to the application. Students can learn more here about the exchanges in Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Germany, and Italy. Interviews for exchange students will begin next week.

The Global Advantage Program will have an information meeting for families interested in hosting international exchange students on Tuesday, October 24th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in D104. DeLaSalle will be welcoming students from Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Germany and Italy in the coming school year. These students go through an extensive application process and are chosen by their schools for their academics, behavior, and interest in experiencing America.

If you have lost an item this year, please stop by the Dean’s Office B-209 to check the lost and found. All unclaimed lost and found items will donated at the mid-semester point on October 19th.

DeLaSalle is taking a group of students to Value Village in Richfield on Wednesday, Oct. 25, to volunteer in the store. Get service hours while working with your friends – you can even dress up in costume and help organize their BOOtique (and maybe even do a little shopping yourself!) The bus will leave DE at 3:30 and return at 6:30 (we will work from 4-6). Please email Ms. Hank (shank@apps.delasalle.com) if you’d like to go!

On Wednesday, October 25th, Miss Barry is looking for 6-8 students to help serve the afternoon meal at Sharing and Caring Hands from 2:30-3:30 pm. Students will need to be able to miss the last 30 minutes of their 8th hour. If interested, please email Miss Barry. This will be limited to 8 students.

WE Day Minnesota will take place Wednesday, November 08 at the Xcel Energy Center from 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. If you are interested in attending, please email Mr. C.J. Hallman to be added to the raffle. There are only 28 spots/Tickets for WE Day this year.
