Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

Lord our God, we thank you that you have given us your glorious future as the basis for our lives. We thank you that on this foundation we can forget our present troubles and believe that the power of good can move us today to oppose sin, death, and everything evil. Free our hearts from all burdens, and grant that we may have courage to wait patiently for the great help which is to come. Grant that what is happening in the world today may somehow help toward the solution of all the problems. We praise your name, our Father in the heavens. We praise you for the good you do for us each day and for the light you will shed one day on everything on earth, to the glory of your name. Amen.

Saint John Baptist de La Salle…pray for us.

Live Jesus in our hearts…forever!

In today’s news…

Apple will be releasing a software update for the iPad called iOS 11. Students should NOT update their iPad with the new operating system until DeLaSalle’s technology team has tested school apps for iOS 11 compatibility and functionality in the school environment so we can transition smoothly to the new software. Please ignore any iOS 11 software update notifications or prompts that appear on your iPad until further notice from DeLaSalle. Students who update to iOS 11 before given permission will have restrictions placed on their device and all personal apps will be deleted for the remainder of the semester.

Four DeLaSalle students competed at the National History Day competition in June in Washington, D.C. These students’ projects won either first or second place at the state competition in April, qualifying them to advance to the national competition. DeLaSalle had more projects advance to the national competition than any other school in Minnesota! Please congratulate: Erin Boehme (Paper – Silent Spring: Changing the Minds of America) – Won 5th place in the nation! Julia Gerloff (Website – Willmar 8) Nadia Johnson (Website – Denver Principles) Ava Methner (Documentary – Righteous, Harmonious: The Boxer Rebellion)

The first topic of discussion for L.E.A.P. will be DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). DACA is a program that protects eligible immigrant youth who came to the United States when they were children from deportation and provides a work permit. In 2017, about 800,000 Dreamers were enrolled in DACA. We are inviting everyone who wants to learn more about the changes being made against this program or who has information about it that they would like to share. All are invited to the meeting in B215 Today, during lunches. We hope to see you there!

Looking for an activity where arguing is not only required, but encouraged? Enjoy playing a character role? Want to learn more about the law, while preparing and arguing a case in front of real judges? Then Mock Trial is for you! Our first meeting of the year is Today at 3:30 in Room B302. Come find out more about Mock Trial and see if this activity is for you! If you have any questions, contact Ms. Hank at

Feel free to join DLS Cycling Club for our second weekly ride of the 2017-2018 school year. We will be riding on Friday and will meet in Room A206 from 3:15 to 3:30. We will then ride from 3:30 to 4:30 and return to De at 4:30. This week’s route will enjoy the fall weather as we explore West River Parkway, East River Parkway, and the protected bike lane on the Plymouth Avenue Bridge! All riders must have a helmet in order to ride. Students are encouraged to bring their bike to school and to lock it to a bike rack outside during the school day.

The group will meet again on Monday, September 25 at 7:50 a.m. in the Campus Ministry office.

Join your classmates from De and a thousand teens from across the Twin Cities at the next NET Lifeline Mass on Saturday, October 7. This is for you if you are looking for a Mass with GREAT music and a message geared to you. Please sign up here to let us know you are coming. We will stay for the talk after Mass, which means that we will be at Davanni’s for pizza by about 9:15 and wrap up about 10:00pm. De provides transportation so meet in the De parking lot at 4:30pm or in the St. Mark’s Catholic Church parking lot in St. Paul about 4:50pm. Or just meet us at the NET Center in West St. Paul by 5:30pm.

The DeLaSalle Cafe will continue the Meatless Monday and Minnesota Thursday initiatives this school year.

Meatless Mondays, on the first and third Mondays of each month, help raise awareness about the agricultural, ecological, and political impact caused by raising meat for human consumption. The Cafe will serve popular, nutritious, and delicious meatless meal options, such as grilled cheese and tomato soup, black bean burgers, cheese and veggie pizza, baked potato bar, waffles, and many other tasty entrees.

The Cafe will again partner this year with metro area farmers as part of a Farm-to-School initiative in which the farmers will provide us with their locally grown produce. Through this partnership, the Cafe will feature a harvest of the month menu item as well as a Minnesota Thursday menu, in which the main entree will consist of food produced right here in our state. The lunch menu for Thursday, September 21, for example, features hot dogs from the Ferndale Market, locally grown corn on the cob, and Johnny Pops.

There is still time to sign up to serve lunch at the Special Olympics Flag Football Tournament this Saturday in South St. Paul. A bus will leave from DeLaSalle at 10:00 am and return at approximately 2:00 pm. Free lunch and t-shirt to all volunteers! Contact Ms. Hank at if you’d like to sign up!

All are invited to join us as we begin our third year of Parents in Prayer, Monday, September 25th, from 8:30-9:30am in the Florance Center. Parents in prayer is group of parents/family members who gather together once a month to pray over the requests and praises of the DeLaSalle community. All month long, students, staff, and family members have the opportunity to anonymously place their prayers in prayer boxes in the Lasallian Ministry office, Main Office, or Theology classrooms.

Next Monday, those prayers will be collected and our group will pray together for these joys and concerns. There will be refreshments and fellowship to be shared. This is a very welcoming experience where blessings are not only given, but also received. We hope to see you there.
