Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

A wise person will hear, and will increase learning;
and a person of understanding shall attain wise counsel.

In today’s news…

Students, you will meet with your academic mentor after 1st period. Please bring homework and other class materials to work on quietly during the meeting. Mentor meetings provide you with a chance to check in with your mentor about how you are doing in your classes so far this year.

Students please check your e-mails for activity sign ups and sign up for any activities you may be interested in. Sign-ups will close on Monday Sept. 11.

Student athletes who drive to school and who have practice, a meet, or team picture after school on Wednesday should move their vehicle from the main school parking lot to the Nicollet Island Pavilion overflow lot (the parking lot just south of the Hennepin Avenue Bridge) before the practice, meet, or photo. This will provide more spaces for parents who will attend Back-to-School Night that evening. Thank you for your cooperation.

 The GREEN Team is seeking environmental superstars (or just average Janes and Joes like the rest of us) to help make the world a more sustainable and vibrant place to live. If you like working with others to eliminate hunger, protect and promote pollinators, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, address environmental racism, and/or advocate for clean energy policies then look no further!

Our first meeting will be Today at 3:10PM in room B311 (and, if you miss that meeting, feel free to join us on any other Tuesday afternoon right after school in Mr. Banas’ room).

If you’re still not sure after all of that – we’re also a great option for those who enjoy occasional afternoon snacks, who are interested in field trips to cool places like aquaponics labs and bee labs, and/or who have great ideas on projects to make our school an even more fantastic place to be – now and in the future.  Bring your ideas and energy to GREEN Team!

Auditions for the Fall Play, Radio News Hour, will be on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30pm – 5pm in D117. You only need to choose one of the days to audition. Students will be reading and performing from provided materials, no preparation necessary. All skill levels are encouraged to audition, prior experience is not required. If you have any questions, contact Mr. Buffington at

The Student Activities office has scheduled team pictures after school on Wednesday for students involved in fall sports. Coaches will communicate to athletes what time the team’s picture is scheduled, where, and how to order copies of the picture.

Parents, please join us on Wednesday night from 6:00-8:45pm for Back-to-School Night to learn from teachers, mentors, and administrators of the academic expectations for each student this year. You will meet your child’s academic mentor and follow your child’s class schedule to learn about course goals, content, and assignments from your child’s teachers.

Reminder that the following are due on or before October 6, 2017:

  • 85 day fitness log
  • Paper about the fitness experience
  • 30 day fitness log
  • Fitness club assignment (don’t forget the page response)

Thank you and have a great year. Mr. C
