Participating in a Fall Sport – Practices Begin Monday, Aug. 14
DeLaSalle is excited to begin the 2017 fall sports season with the first day of practice for all teams on Monday, August 14. This includes boys’ and girls’ soccer, competition cheer, cross country, football, girls’ tennis, girls’ swimming and diving, sideline cheer, and volleyball. Click here to find where teams will practice, at what time, and who the team’s coach is.
Before a student can participate in a sport, they must have a “current” physical on file with the Student Activities office. Students without a current physical, which is defined as signed by a licensed physician within the last three years, may not participate in practice. Families should have also completed the Minnesota State High School League Eligibility Form, which was included in the back-to-school email with other required forms.
New and transfer students can learn more information about DeLaSalle activities and athletics programs during New Family Orientation the evening of August 17.
School Orientations Continue
Thanks to the many returning students and families who attended the first school orientation on August 9. One more school orientation for returning students is scheduled on Wednesday, August 16. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have not yet registered.
Ninth Graders, New Transfers Invited to New Student Orientation August 17
This REQUIRED program for ALL new ninth grade and transfer students begins at 8:25am and is for students only.
On August 17, students should check in between 8:00-8:20am. The 9th grade program runs all day, ending at 3:00pm. The transfer students will be dismissed at 12:00 noon. All new students meet new classmates, meet their academic mentor, and then (with a copy of their class schedules in hand) are introduced to teachers and important school personnel as part of a 90-minute tour/building orientation.
Transfer students meet separately with other transfers (and some returning De students); we will have a continental breakfast meeting to start the transfers program at 8:30am, but we will not serve lunch to the transfers. Again, the transfers are dismissed at 12:00 noon.
Ninth graders will stay through lunch (provided free on Thursday) and have additional orientation activities in the afternoon designed to help them meet other new ninth grade students. Ninth graders are dismissed at 3:00pm.
Please note these important reminders:
School bus service is not available on this day. Plan to arrive between 8:00-8:20am. The programs will begin promptly at 8:30am.

DeLaSalle Hosts New Family Orientation Evening of August 17
All parents and families who are new to DeLaSalle (Class of 2021 and transfers) are asked to come to a more extensive “New Family” Orientation program on the evening of Thursday, August 17. Watch for Bus & Transportation Route Information
As the start of school approaches, parents often want to know more about their child’s school bus route, stop, as well as pick-up and drop-off times. .
For those students residing in Minneapolis who requested busing as part of 2017-18 registration, Minneapolis & Suburban/Monarch Bus Company will begin mailing postcards in early August with the route and stop information.
For those students residing in St. Paul and suburbs who have requested transportation through DeLaSalle, route information will be emailed directly to students / families prior to August 15.

Open Your Home to an International Student
A junior from China is looking for a host family for the first semester. Consider opening your home to Zichen, who has studied at DeLaSalle the past two years. This summer, Zichen participated in the Secondary School Program at Harvard University, where he took classes and earned college credit. He enjoys drawing and martial arts. Hosting an international student like Zichen gives your family a unique opportunity to build a special connection, explore new customs, and share American culture. If you or your family is interested in hosting Zichen, please contact us. Host families receive a $800-$900 monthly housing stipend for hosting international students.
