Thank You for Completing Required Back-to-School Forms
As we set our sights on our 118th year of Catholic, Lasallian education at DeLaSalle, we ask for your help to ensure a smooth transition for your child and your family as the new year begins. The primary parental contact for each new and returning student received an email July 7 with required back-to-school forms that must be completed by Friday, July 28. Families with more than one child enrolled at DeLaSalle will receive an individual email for each one.
The back-to-school email also includes important information about required school orientations for new and returning students. Families of returning students may sign up for an orientation on either Wednesday, August 9 or Wednesday, August 16. New Student Orientation for all ninth grade and new transfer students will be held on Thursday, August 17 and new families are invited back to DeLaSalle for New Family Orientation the evening of August 17.
Please note: Families who choose the $50 Annual Protection Plan option for their child’s iPad will find the charge reflected on their TADS account to be paid within the upcoming month. (Most returning families made this choice when re-enrolling in February; families of new students are making that choice this month). Families who have already paid their tuition will have an additional invoice added to their account to make this payment. Families who choose the $405 Deposit Protection Plan option will need to bring in a check when their student picks up their iPad in August.
Order Uniforms by July 14 to Ensure On-Time Delivery
Do you need to order new uniform apparel for your child? Visit the DeLaSalle School Store online to browse uniform items and place your order. Orders placed by Friday, July 14, will be available for pick up starting with the August 9 school orientation. The School Store on campus is open in the summer by appointment only. Please contact Douge Schildgen via email or by phone at 612.859.5652.
Free Sports Physicals Offered
Free sports physicals are offered throughout the Twin Cities this summer. DeLaSalle requires up-to-date (within the last three years) signed physical from a doctor’s office stating a student is cleared to participate in a sport before a student can participate. Click here to find when and where free physicals are offered and how you can register.
Participating in A Fall Sport
DeLaSalle is excited to begin the 2017 fall sports season with the first day of practice for all teams on Monday, August 14. Students interested in participating in a fall athletic program must respond to the Fall Sports Registration form sent via email from email@example.com.
Before a student can participate in a sport, they must have a “current” physical submitted by August 1 (“current” is defined as signed by a licensed physician within the last three years.) Families should have also completed the Minnesota State High School League Eligibility Form, which was included in the back-to-school email (see above).
Students and parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to attend the Student Activities eligibility / fall athletic coaches meeting on Wednesday, August 9 at 6:30pm, following school orientation. The meeting will cover important DeLaSalle and state high school league eligibility policies. Coaches of fall athletic programs will hold team meetings after. New and transfer students will learn even more information about DeLaSalle activities and athletics programs during New Family Orientation on August 18 at 6:30pm.

Around the Island
Brady Thompson ’18 (seated at center) is joined by family, friends and DeLaSalle staff following construction July 1 of a new vegetable garden just west of the DeLaSalle Athletic Field. Thompson oversaw the planning and construction of the garden – which includes five raised beds, two standing raised beds, a 3-stage compost bin, and a handwashing station – as a service project in his quest to achieve Eagle Rank in the Boy Scouts of America. An herb spiral will be added soon and the DeLaSalle Cafe will incorporate the carrots, lettuce, spinach, and other produce grown in the garden in its meals. Siwek Lumber & Millwork, managed by alumnus Tom Siwek ’82, provided the cedar wood for the garden. (Photo courtesy: Tim Lynch, DeLaSalle staff)
Two International Students Need Host Families
DeLaSalle families have a unique opportunity to build a special connection, explore new customs, and share American culture by hosting an international student this school year. Richard is an incoming junior from Korea who has a passion for film and enjoys tennis and swimming. Yuan is an incoming freshman from China who enjoys Science and Math. If you or your family is interested in hosting Richard or Yuan, please contact us. Host families receive a $800-$900 monthly housing stipend for hosting international students.
