In today’s news…

Archbishop Bernard Hebda will be at DeLaSalle this afternoon to celebrate the funeral Mass for Brother David Barth. Classes will follow a shortened schedule and dismiss at 12:52pm. The funeral Mass begins at 1:00pm. A reception will follow. Afternoon transportation routes will leave DeLaSalle at their regularly scheduled time. Br. David will be laid to rest in a private graveside ceremony at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights.

All students that do not have regular parking permits MUST purchase a parking pass in the Main Office for $5. Said temp passes should be signed by the staff person selling the pass and dated for the specific day the pass is valid for. Please note the following days that temp day passes must NOT be sold…


  Final assessments for 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students are scheduled over three half-days May 24-26.

Important Reminders

  • Breakfast will be served until 8:30am. There will be no lunch service.
  • Buses will run in the morning and will depart at 12:25pm on Wednesday, at 12:15pm on Thursday, and at 11:45am on Friday. The school campus will be closed to students on Friday starting at 12:00pm.
  • Students who have lunch or study hall periods 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 8 do not need to attend those periods.
  • If students are here during their lunch hour, they should report to the Florance Center.
  • If students are here for a study hall periods 2 or 7, they should report to their regular study hall room.
  • If students are here for a study hall periods 1, 3, or 8, they should report to the Florance Center.
  • All students will return iPads on Friday.

All students are required to go through the end of the year iPad checkout on Friday, May 26 between 11:00am and 12:30pm in the Main Gym (9th grade), LL Gray Gym (10th grade), or Schulze Learning Lab (11th grade). Students may turn in their iPad early to the Tech Office before their last final if they no longer need it for testing. Students must allow at least 15 minutes for the iPad return process.

All students must turn in their school issued iPad with the school issued iPad case. The iPad Return Checklist – found in the Islanders course in Canvas – must be completed, signed by a parent/guardian, and turned in with the iPad on May 26. Students should turn off their passcode and sign out of their iCloud and iTunes accounts before going to their assigned area. It is important to note that you will be charged the deductible/repair cost for broken devices as well as replacement cost for any missing items. Families who chose the Deposit Protection Plan will be charged for all damages to the iPad and accessories not covered under warranty. If you are not returning to DeLaSalle for the 2017-2018 school year, you must turn in the Apple charging/sync cable and power adapter provided when you received your iPad.

Students will have 10 minutes between the 2nd and 4th period finals on Wednesday (10:50-11:00) to clean out their lockers for the year. Garbage and recycling bins are available in the hallways to properly dispose of waste. Students should take and keep the lock with them this summer after cleaning out their locker and checking out with a teacher or staff member in the hallway.

The campus will be closed to students after 12:00pm on Friday. Afternoon transportation routes will leave at 11:30am that day, following the iPad return. Thank you and have a great summer!

Metro Transit is offering a Student Summer Pass for $25 that provides unlimited rides on buses or light rail for students this summer. Passes are available for purchase and are valid June 1-September 5 from 5:00am-10:00pm. It’s perfect for summer jobs, sports leagues and all the other fun that summer brings. Click here for more about how to buy a pass. All you need to purchase a pass is the school name (DeLaSalle) and the student ID.

Summer time is a great opportunity to get involved in Christian Service.  Many organizations have been contacting us to set up summer assistance.  Please see Mr. Hallman for ideas of places you can serve.  If you complete an activity during the summer you may wait until the fall to turn in your completed validation forms.  All validation forms are available here.

St. Mary’s University, Minnesota is hosting the 2017 Lasallian Youth Gathering during the week of June 25-29. This is a week-long immersion experience centered on the Lasallian components of Faith, Service and Community. Students are encouraged to use their talents and are challenged to make an impact in their local communities. The time in Winona will feature several service opportunities; times to gather in prayer and reflection; and social outings. Students receive 30 Christian Service Hours upon completion of this week. Any current 9th, 10th or 11th grade student at DeLaSalle is invited to participate.

The June driver’s education class is full. Thank you to those who have registered.

The next driver’s ed class will be taught in late July and early August. The class is scheduled July 31-August 4 and Aug. 7-11, from 9:00am-12:20pm. There is a mandatory parent meeting on July 31 from 1:00-2:30pm. Click here for an application. Please note, the classroom only option is no longer offered. Applicants must now sign up for both classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, which costs $399.

HandsOn Twin Cities is looking for volunteers to help with the most intense obstacle course challenge and adventure run that Minnesota has to offer! It happens Saturday, June 3 at U.S. Bank Stadium. Volunteers are needed during the 6:30am-1:30pm and 1:00-8:00pm shifts. Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt, food, and the experience of a lifetime! Each race consists of a challenging 7K course for adults, 5K course for the canines, 2K course for the kids and a festival site that features live entertainment, an expo, kid’s activities, food and beverages, prize giveaways and much more.
