In today’s news…

The Class of 2017 graduates tonight from DeLaSalle at 6:45pm at the Basilica of Saint Mary. DeLaSalle will broadcast a livestream of graduation here. DeLaSalle welcomes Brother Konrad Diebold ‘55, past president and principal of Saint Patrick’s High School in Chicago and 1993 DeLaSalle Hall of Fame inductee, as our Commencement speaker. Congratulations to our 192 graduates!

Congratulations to our student body for raising over $2,000 to support people living in famine and war in South Sudan. The 9th grade class brought in the most money and will be treated to ice cream during lunch. Thank you!

If you have not picked up your yearbook, please do so in the Tech Office before school or during lunches. If you would like to purchase a yearbook, there are still some available for $57. Please see Ms. Bryson-Tucker in the Tech Office if you would like one.

There are no classes tomorrow. Good luck studying this weekend for next week’s final assessments. Classes resume on Monday.

The visitation for Br. David Barth ’61, who died May 11, will be held Monday from 4:30-7:30pm in the Florance Center. A vigil will be held at 7:00pm.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Bernard Hebda on Tuesday at 1:00pm at DeLaSalle, with a reception to follow. Classes on Tuesday will dismiss at 12:52pm and students will attend the funeral Mass. Afternoon transportation routes will leave DeLaSalle at their regularly scheduled time. Br. David will be laid to rest in a private graveside ceremony at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights.

Founder’s Park is now open during lunches. Students must wait for an announcement from the lunch supervisors before they can head outside. If a student is found in Founder’s Park before the announcement is made they will be issued a Minor Violation for Off Limits.

All students that do not have regular parking permits MUST purchase a parking pass in the Main Office for $5. Said temp passes should be signed by the staff person selling the pass and dated for the specific day the pass is valid for. Please note the following days that temp day passes must NOT be sold…

Metro Transit is offering a Student Summer Pass for $25 that provides unlimited rides on buses or light rail for students this summer. Passes are available for purchase and are valid June 1-September 5 from 5:00am-10:00pm. It’s perfect for summer jobs, sports leagues and all the other fun that summer brings. Click here for more about how to buy a pass. All you need to purchase a pass is the school name (DeLaSalle) and the student ID.

Summer time is a great opportunity to get involved in Christian Service.  Many organizations have been contacting us to set up summer assistance.  Please see Mr. Hallman for ideas of places you can serve.  If you complete an activity during the summer you may wait until the fall to turn in your completed validation forms.  All validation forms are available here.

St. Mary’s University, Minnesota is hosting the 2017 Lasallian Youth Gathering during the week of June 25-29. This is a week-long immersion experience centered on the Lasallian components of Faith, Service and Community. Students are encouraged to use their talents and are challenged to make an impact in their local communities. The time in Winona will feature several service opportunities; times to gather in prayer and reflection; and social outings. Students receive 30 Christian Service Hours upon completion of this week. Any current 9th, 10th or 11th grade student at DeLaSalle is invited to participate.

The cost for this trip is $350 plus travel (TBD) Please complete this form if you are interested and see Mr. CJ Hallman if you need more information.

The June driver’s education class is full. Thank you to those who have registered.

The next driver’s ed class will be taught in late July and early August. The class is scheduled July 31-August 4 and Aug. 7-11, from 9:00am-12:20pm. There is a mandatory parent meeting on July 31 from 1:00-2:30pm. Click here for an application. Please note, the classroom only option is no longer offered. Applicants must now sign up for both classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, which costs $399.

HandsOn Twin Cities is looking for volunteers to help with the most intense obstacle course challenge and adventure run that Minnesota has to offer! It happens Saturday, June 3 at U.S. Bank Stadium. Volunteers are needed during the 6:30am-1:30pm and 1:00-8:00pm shifts. Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt, food, and the experience of a lifetime! Each race consists of a challenging 7K course for adults, 5K course for the canines, 2K course for the kids and a festival site that features live entertainment, an expo, kid’s activities, food and beverages, prize giveaways and much more.
