In today’s news…

Seniors are excused from periods 1-4 today and will have finals in periods 5-8. Seniors may dress out of uniform since today is their last day of classes.

All seniors are required to go through the end of the year iPad checkout process in the Schulze Learning Lab (D104) today between 3:00-4:30pm. The iPad Return Checklist must be completed, signed by a parent/guardian, and turned in with the iPad. The Checklist is in the Islanders Canvas course under Technology. Students may turn in their iPad to the Thies Creative Lab (D207West) during lunch on May 12 if they no longer need it for testing during periods after lunch. Students must allow at least 15 minutes for the iPad return process. Students must remember to logout of their iCloud and iTunes accounts, turn off pass codes, and return the device along with their school issued power cord, adapter and case.

Founder’s Park is now open during lunches. Students must wait for an announcement from the lunch supervisors before they can head outside. If a student is found in Founder’s Park before the announcement is made they will be issued a Minor Violation for Off Limits.

Come for a night of fun with your classmates and friends! The End of Year Bonfire is tonight from 7:00-10:00pm and includes music, games, and refreshments. Join us on Brothers’ Plaza. Yearbooks will be also be distributed for those who bought one.

Did you know the yearbooks are in and they look great? There are only 50 yearbooks left to order. We will be accepting on campus orders until we are sold out. Online orders will close on Wednesday, May 10th. Order soon so you will be able to pick it up at the Farewell Bonfire on Friday.

The last Advanced Placement exam is today – AP European History at 12:00pm in the Rothweiler Room. As always, you should get a good night’s sleep before the exam, eat a good breakfast, arrive early, and bring two sharpened #2 pencils and two pens.

There will be a short prayer service in the Upper Room school chapel on Monday at 7:45am. All are welcome. The chapel is located on the 2nd floor of Christian Brothers’ Hall, and you can get to it from the Lasallian Ministry office.

Seniors – on Wednesday, May 17, the evening before graduation, we will gather for our Baccalaureate Mass, Senior Awards and Reception at 6:30pm in the Main Gym.  Seniors are asked to arrive by 6:15 and report to the LL Gray Gym to line up for the processional.

St. Mary’s University, Minnesota is hosting the 2017 Lasallian Youth Gathering during the week of June 25-29. This is a week-long immersion experience centered on the Lasallian components of Faith, Service and Community. Students are encouraged to use their talents and are challenged to make an impact in their local communities. The time in Winona will feature several service opportunities; times to gather in prayer and reflection; and social outings. Students receive 30 Christian Service Hours upon completion of this week. Any current 9th, 10th or 11th grade student at DeLaSalle is invited to participate.

The cost for this trip is $350 plus travel (TBD) Please complete this form if you are interested and see Mr. CJ Hallman if you need more information.

The June driver’s education class is full. Thank you to those who have registered.

The next driver’s ed class will be taught in late July and early August. The class is scheduled July 31-August 4 and Aug. 7-11, from 9:00am-12:20pm. There is a mandatory parent meeting on July 31 from 1:00-2:30pm. Click here for an application. Please note, the classroom only option is no longer offered. Applicants must now sign up for both classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, which costs $399.

Organizers of the All Night Graduation Party are finalizing plans for the All Night Graduation Party for the Class of 2017, which will be held after graduation on Thursday, May 18.

Parent volunteers are still needed and those interested in volunteering may sign up here. Please contact Anne Geddes (mother of Cassidy) or Mary Kane (mother of Emma) with questions.

Thank you so much for considering a donation of your time, money, or goods! All donations can be dropped off in the Main Office at school during normal business hours before Tuesday, May 16.

PRIZES: Part of the fun for our seniors includes a raffle throughout the night. For prize donation ideas, think 18 year olds! Gift cards/entertainment packages including:

  • Chipotle, Jimmy Johns, Punch, Cane’s, Panera Bread, Subway, Target, Macy’s, iTunes, Best Buy, Movie theaters, Go Karting, Bowling, dorm room accessories, headphones, speakers, and so much more.

SWEETS:  The food donations have been very generous-thank you!! If we could ask for one final thing it would be sweets to top off the meals!

  • Bags of candy would be ideal, store-bought baked goods also great.
