Friday April 21, 2017

Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

Christ is risen and forever lives to challenge and to change
all whose lives are messed or mangled, all who find religion strange.
Christ is risen!, Christ is present making us what He has been,
evidence of transformation in which God is known and seen

Saint John Baptist de La Salle…pray for us.

Live Jesus in our hearts…forever!

The Parent Association sponsored group that was scheduled to meet today from 1:45-2:45pm to lift up the De community in prayer has been postponed and may be rescheduled at a later date. Students, staff, and families may place prayer requests in prayer boxes in the Lasallian Ministry office, Main Office, or Theology classroom; requests may remain anonymous.

The DeLaSalle community will celebrate Founder’s Week next week (April 24-29). Each day will emphasize one of the Lasallian 5 core principles:

Monday, April 24 Faith in the Presence of God

All are welcome to come to the “Upper Room” (the Chapel on the second floor of Christian Brothers Hall) for morning prayer at 7:45am. Special prayers will also be read at the start of each class period.

Tuesday, April 25: Respect for All Persons

Students and families are encouraged to donate during lunches all week toward our school collection for South Sudan. There will be a bin for each grade level.  The class with the largest donation will have a pizza party sometime before the end of the school year.

DeLaSalle Theatre Presents “All Together Now”, a celebration of our connectivity with one another, both in real life and in the world of our dreams. This show brings the audience right up on the Florance Center stage, creating an intimate playground filled with colorful projections, short films, live music, song and dance. Told with silliness and seriousness, the show features wild abstract characters, physical comedy and beautiful moments of poignancy, all created by the brilliant minds of the cast and crew.

Performances are tonight at 8:00pm and tomorrow at 5:00pm and 8:00pm. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for DeLaSalle students with a school ID. Please note, the Saturday afternoon show was originally scheduled at 4:00pm, but was pushed back one hour to accommodate for a schedule conflict involving some cast and crew members.

Help us take care of Nicollet Island and be good neighbors at our 10th annual Island Cleanup Day Saturday from 12:30-3:00pm. Co-sponsored by the Parent Association and the student GREEN team, we invite all De parents-staffstudents0friends to work in groups to clean up the Island. Bring a rake and gloves, if you have them. Help us rake, bag and hunt for “treasures”. We will also have a few gardening projects. Join us after your hard work for a free BBQ hosted by the Parent Association. Last year, nearly 40 Islanders volunteered and collected 45 bags of trash.

Parents, help the DeLaSalle Parent Association celebrate our terrific staff on the annual Staff Appreciation Day on Thursday, April 27! Please click here to sign up if you would like to volunteer at the event or to donate something for the day. Many parents enjoy spending part of the day with each other – and all for a good cause! All teachers, administrators, and support staff are recognized on this day – and we need your help welcoming and serving them a continental breakfast and later a tasty lunch.

If you have questions, please contact Parent Association co-chairs, Jackie Schluter Johnson or Luann Mishler. If you prefer to make a cash donation toward the cost of meals and treats for the staff, please send your donation to Parent Association staff liaison, Mike O’Keefe, at DeLaSalle.

The DeLaSalle Onyx Step Team performs their routine “Step is LIFE!” in the second annual Soul Stepping Scholars Stomp Down tomorrow at 3:00pm at Patrick Henry High School. Doors open at 2:30pm. Tickets cost $10 at the door; children 5 and under are free. A limited number of advance tickets for $8 are available from Ms. Luckett in Christian Brothers’ Hall; advance ticket sales end today at 3:00pm. The competition will be judged.

Let’s show the Islanders our support! The louder the crowd is, the better it looks/sounds for the judges! That, alone, will up our score. We have an extremely creative routine based in space. I think we can place this year! #StepIsLIFE #ONYX #SSSStompDown2017
