Congratulations to the top-rated DeLaSalle boys’ basketball team, who advanced to the state tournament with a 71-68 victory over Orono to win the Section 6AAA championship March 16.
DeLaSalle last year set a Minnesota State High School League record when it won its fifth consecutive state title. The Islanders look to extend that to a 6-peat this year.
DeLaSalle, which earned the #1 seed in the Class 3A state tournament, defeated Big Lake 55-47 in the quarterfinal March 22, and topped Columbia Heights 86-60 in the semifinal March 23.
The Islanders play the Austin Packers in the championship game Saturday, March 25 at 5:00pm at Target Center.
Fans are invited to the DeLaSalle Florance Center after the championship game for a welcome home celebration.

Tickets cost $9 for students and $14 for adults.
A limited number of tickets for Saturday’s championship game will be sold in the Albers Atrium at DeLaSalle on Friday, March 24 from 3:00-3:45pm and again on Saturday, March 25 from 2:30-4:00pm, while supplies last. Tickets are also available at the Target Center. To avoid long lines, fans may wish to click here to purchase their tickets online.
DeLaSalle will operate fan buses to the championship game on Saturday, March 25. Buses will shuttle fans between DeLaSalle and the Target Center, starting from De at 4:00pm. Buses will shuttle fans back to De after the game.
Target Center Parking
Interstate Parking Company is offering discounted parking in the Northstar Ramp (110 S. 7th St). Fans must download and print this flyer in order to receive the discounted parking rate, which is $10 for all day weekday parking and $4 for all day weekend parking. Fans must enter on 6th St., 7th St., or 2nd Ave.
