DeLaSalle students may travel and live in one of five different countries in the summer of 2017 through a student exchange opportunity offered through De’s Global Advantage Program.
Current 10th and 11th grade students may now apply to participate on an exchange in Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Germany, or Italy. The application deadline is Friday, January 13, 2017. A complete application requires three components:
- Students must complete an online application.
- Students and parents must read and sign a Code of Conduct (contained in the online application).
- Students must acquire three letters of recommendation, including two from teachers and one from another person who is not family.
The exchanges occur in the summer between June and August and last between four and eight weeks, depending on the location chosen.
Costs for each student exchange vary. Students do not pay tuition, fees for academic materials, uniforms or technology, or room and board. Students who are accepted for an exchange will pay a $350 fee. Students must pay for their own travel to and from the host country. Airfares range from $900-$1,300 depending on the location. Students should also plan to have between $500,$1,000 for spending money for each destination. Passports, spending money and optional activities are the responsibility of the student.
