The Parent Association, in partnership with Lasallian Ministry, will be hosting a very fun event – Good Works and Grog! The event is Monday, December 12, beginning at 4:30pm and wrapping up about 8:00pm. This is a wonderful evening of giving back, getting to know one another, and getting into the Christmas Spirit.

We begin by joining students and staff with Christmas Caroling at Catholic Eldercare in northeast Minneapolis.  A bus will be leaving De at 4:30pm but you can also meet us a little before 5:00pm at Catholic Eldercare. We will sing carols for the seniors during their dinner hour and expect to be back at school by 6:00pm. (Good Works!)

Back at school, the students will have pizza and watch a Christmas movie together.  Meanwhile the adults will gather in the Brother Basil Rothweiler Room (located in Christian Brothers Hall at the back of campus) where we too will have pizza and various seasonal libations. (Grog!)

From 6:30-8:00 pm, parents are invited to participate in the school’s annual Christmas Basket/Adopt a Family project by wrapping gifts purchased last week by Lasallian Ministry students  (More Good Works and a way to connect students to the service of students at De!)  Students have donated loose change to the project during November, and our students, accompanied by Lasallian Ministry staff, purchased clothes, toys and other Christmas gifts for the families we adopted.

The Christmas Social, in conjunction with the gift wrapping project, provides parents from all grade levels a chance to meet each other while in support of a great cause.

Please note, for this month only, the Parent Association activities will take place in the Brother Basil Rothweiler Room, located on the first floor of the Admissions/ Development/Campus Ministry office area, on the back side of campus on Grove Street. Parents may park in front of school or on Grove Street itself.

Contact Parent Association co-chairs, Luann Mishler and Jackie Schluter Johnson, with questions.

Please join us for all or some of the activities. This is an annual crowd pleaser that you won’t want to miss!
