Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

God, we pray for peace in our lives: in our towns, in our schools, in our families, and in our own hearts. Amen

Saint John Baptist de La Salle…pray for us. Live Jesus in our hearts…forever!

Students led by our DLS superfans will have the small donut lot blocked off Saturday and available for tailgating at 12:00pm before the football game. As always, have fun and be respectful – the Islander way!

The school ID that you received on Picture Day is your ticket to Homecoming fun this weekend. With your school ID, you can watch the girls’ varsity soccer team host Coon Rapids tomorrow at 9am, the varsity boys’ soccer team host Minnehaha Academy at 11am and the varsity football team host Benilde-St. Margaret’s at 2pm. AND, your school ID is required in order for you to attend the Homecoming Dance starting at 7:30pm. If you do not have an ID, please visit the Administration Office for a replacement.

There is a meeting from 3:15-3:45pm near the stage door today (the orange wall in the D building) for any student musicians interested in pit band for the fall musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Speeling Bee. We’re particularly interested in: cello, piano, percussion and reed.

For more information, contact Mrs. Buffington.

Fall sports team pictures wrap up today with these photos:

  • Girls’ soccer: 3:20-4:00 pm (athletic field)
  • Cross Country: 4:00-4:30pm (Founder’s Park)
  • Cheer: 3:45-4:30pm (Founder’s Park)

Picture Retake Day will be held during lunches on Tuesday, September 27 in the LL Gray Gym. If you had your picture taken the first week of school but wish to have a retake, you must bring your entire original picture package to turn in in exchange for a retake package. If you did not have a picture taken the first week of school or wish to have an additional package of pictures, you may obtain  a new picture order envelope from the Main Office to order a new package of pictures. Please see Ms. Gillund or Ms. Villegas in the Main Office with any questions.

Earn Christian Service hours after school on Tuesday as we are “Sort’n It Out on the Island!” Join the GREEN Team for DeLaSalle’s annual fall waste sort in the parking lot behind the school (between the football field and Christian Brothers’ Hall). We’ll sort from 3:15-5:00pm. Supplies are provided.

The DeLaSalle GREEN Team invites you to consider joining the National Park Service and REI to plant trees and collect native plant seeds at Clearwater Springs in south Minneapolis this Saturday from 9:00am-noon to celebrate National Public Lands Day. Click here to volunteer.

Registered volunteers will receive a free REI volunteer T-shirt and a light breakfast. This is a rain or shine event. Registered volunteers who use alternative transit (bus, bike, or train) will be entered to win a Centennial ENO Hammock!

Clearwater Springs is located between Minnehaha Falls Regional Park and Historic Fort Snelling. The historic Coldwater spring house sits at its heart.

Students are reminded that they must be in a supervised location after school – either with a teacher in a classroom, participating in a DeLaSalle activity, or in the Library or new Islander Commons area. Please note that hallways are closed after 6:00pm and that you may not access your locker after this time. Thank you for your cooperation.

DeLaSalle welcomes Darmouth College for a presentation on application and attendance at the New Hampshire-based school. The citywide visit is Tuesday from 7:00-9:00pm in D104. Students interested in applying to Dartmouth or any other highly selective college should attend this presentation to gain an understanding of what is needed to apply.

Students receiving financial assistance are required to work ten (10) hours each year they attend DeLaSalle. Work can range from assisting custodians with light duty building maintenance to general outside groundskeeping. During the school year, work shifts are two hours after school from 3:15-5:15pm. Please contact Mr. Shelstad at 612.676.7614 to sign up for your required work service hours.

Now that the school year has started, it’s time to start ordering your 2016-2017 Yearbook. You can either order them online or pick up an order form outside of the IT Office or in the Attendance Office. Use the coupon code B2S2016 by September 30 to receive $8 off your yearbook.

Please contact Ms. Bryson-Tucker in the IT Office with questions.
