The Spring Concert is tomorrow at 7:00pm in the Florance Center. We encourage you to attend and support your classmates in the band, choir, and orchestra. Doors to the Florance Center will open on concert night at 6:30pm.month.
AP testing continues today and there will be an impact on how you get around school.
- AP Spanish: Started at 8:30am and will conclude at about 1:00pm. Testing is located in B301.
- AP Physics: Takes place this afternoon starting at 12:00pm. Students should attend periods 1-3, eat period 4, and report to the LL Gray Gym after period 4 lunch..
HALLWAY CLOSINGS: In order to maintain a quiet testing area for students, please read over the hallway closings, plan accordingly, and be respectful of our testers.
- The 3rd floor hallway between Ms. Post’s and Mr. Sczepanski’s room will be closed this morning except for students who have lockers there and students in Mr. Sczepanski’s classes.
- The hallway outside the computer lab will be closed from about 11:00am to 1:00pm. Students must pass between classes on the first floor of the B building.
- The hallway between the Main Gym and the LL Gray Gym will be closed during AP testing today from 12:00pm-3:45pm
TOMORROW’S TEST: The AP English Literature exam takes place tomorrow morning in the LL Gray gym. Testers should report to the LL Gray gym beginning at 8:15am, with testing beginning promptly at 8:30am.
It’s happening… seniors and staff take each other on in a kickball game this Thursday at 3:30pm on the Athletic Field. Seniors – you sign up on the sheet on the Activities Office door to put your name in a lottery-type drawing for a spot on the team. If you win a spot on the team, you are required to make a $10 donation to the Ecuador Relief Fund.
Staff are also required to make a $10 donation to the Ecuador Relief Fund. For those attending the game, we are suggesting that you make a contribution to the Ecuador Relief Fund. Let’s make this a great community event and help Ecuadorians as well!
Congratulations to those juniors who participated and placed at Minnesota History Day, held yesterday at the University of Minnesota. Congratulations are especially in order for Joanna and Jovanna Lopez ’17, whose “Chicano Movement” project won 2nd place in the Senior Group Exhibit category and will advance to National History Day in Washington, D.C. next month.
Applications are available now if you are interested in serving on Student Council next year. You may pick up a form in the Main Office. Applications are due by Friday, May 6 if you are running for Executive Board (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations). Class representative applications are due by Friday, May 13.
Dig out your loose change! Student Council is having a “penny war” between grade levels this week. The funds will go to disaster aid for the earthquake in Ecuador. There will be one jar for each grade level, in which you can put money during lunches. The goal is to put money into the jars of other grades. The grade with the least amount of money in their jar wins. The winning grade gets a surprise prize.
Congratulations to junior Sam Swanson for winning the yearbook drawing. Please see Ms Beckman in the LTC to collect your $10 gift card.
Remember, anyone who has ordered a yearbook will be entered into a weekly drawing for a $10 gift card. Yearbooks are $57 and there are only 30 left. Please see Ms. Beckman in the LTC or Mr. Lemon in the attendance office to buy a book.
Congratulations to Christian Kardio ’16, winner of the drawing for the dorm mini fridge. Seniors entered into the drawing on Friday when they signed the “Class of 2016” banner indicating which school they would attend as part of National College Decision Day.
Do you like parties? Then why not come to Chess Club’s end of the year party, have a treat, play some chess, and watch your fellow Islanders receive awards! Chess Club will meet this Thursday until 5:00pm for one last time this school year in A204. Please note that we are meeting until 5:00pm to celebrate the spectacular season. Players of all skill levels are welcome, and if you just have time to stop by and play one quick game that’s fine. See Ms. Kocourek or Anders Jenson with any questions.
Next Monday is the last time this school year that DeLaSalle will volunteer at Sharing & Caring Hands. Students who want to help serve the afternoon meal after school on May 9 should e-mail Miss Barry. There’s only room for eight students.
This Friday marks the final Scrabble Club meeting of 2016. All are welcome to play after school in Mrs. Sullivan’s room, A206.
