February 10th, Ash Wednesday, marked the beginning of the Lenten Season. DeLaSalle students, faculty, and staff joined together for Mass presided Father Michael Joncas and DeLaSalle Chaplain, Father Joe Kuharski.

“Honoring our Elders” for Social Justice Week
DeLaSalle celebrated their annual Social Justice Week February 22nd – 26th. This annual program, coordinated by the Office of Lasallian Ministry, is inspired by the seven priciples of our Catholic Social Teachings. This year’s theme was “Honoring our Elders”. History Day Projects Exceed Expectations
History Day in an annual project in the 11th grade curriculum that inspires students to become experts in a a topic of choice surrounding a national theme. This year’s them was “Exploration, Encounter, Exchange in History”. Students created exhibits, websites, documentaries and performances to showcase their research. Topics ranging from the Tuskegee Airmen to Title IX, these students worked tirelessly to understand and perfect their projects. 31 projects have advanced on to the regional competition on Saturday, March 7th. DeLaSalle Student Connects with the World through her own Island to Island Initiative
Julia Eubanks wants to be an ambassador when she grows up. At 16, the DeLaSalle sophomore already has a wealth of diplomatic experience, having just completed her third trip to the Caribbean island of Haiti. She recently delivered 30 iPads donated by DeLaSalle to students at College Couer de Marie, a school about 15 miles west of the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince. Read More…
Alumni Scholarship Opportunity for Juniors Students at DeLaSalle
The DeLaSalle Alumni Legacy/Farrell Scholarship is offered to junior students who will receive the scholarship for their senior year at DeLaSalle. Applicants complete an application and are evaluated on their academics, extra-curricular activities, community, church and volunteer involvement. In addition, all applicants must have at least one relative that has graduated from DeLaSalle. Thank you to the Alumni Association Board for their scholarship committee work. Matt Gallagher ’06 Wins North American Excellence Award
The North American Excellence Awards honor outstanding achievements in the field of Public Relations and Communications. Gallagher currently works for Cox Enterprises in Atlanta, Georgia. He won his award in the “Internal Communication” category for his vision and spearheading of the Cox Retirement Dream It, Do It Campaign. The Dream It, Do It Campaign sought to provide Cox employees with a better understanding of their retirement benefits and improve their retirement readiness. This year’s campaign coupled an innovative creative approach that brought employee testimonials and imagery to the forefront with a high-impact contest that challenged employees to visualize their ideal retirement. During June and July, DeLaSalle’s Camp Islander offers nine different summer camps in drama and athletics for elementary, middle and high school students. Each Camp offers outstanding coaching and directing, with emphasis on fundamental skill development for participants. Students may sign up for a single camp or multiple camps!
