All college visits take place in the Guidance office, unless otherwise noted. In order to meet with a college rep, you must register for the visit through your Naviance account and notify your teacher at least one day before the visit. You may show your teacher your iPad with the registration on Naviance as your pass. Remember, you are responsible for any work you miss during your visit with the college rep.

As a reminder, all students who receive need-based financial aid must complete 10 hours of work service in return for their grant. Students who need to complete their work service should e-mail Mr. Grue to arrange a time for the work. nicholas.grue@delasalle.com

Ms Beckman has put together another service trip to Colorado Springs, CO. This year’s trip is June 2-10.

Students who are interested in participating in the trip need to:

  1. Complete the online application (You must be logged into your Students Apps account to access the form)
  2. Send the signed permission slip to Ms Beckman.
  3. Ask three staff members to complete an online staff recommendation for you.

All application material must be submitted and turned in by 4:00pm on Friday, March 4.

Get ready to show your school spirit at a Pepfest this Friday after 8th hour in the Main Gym. The Spirit Stick is up for grabs and the Pepfest includes a performance by the DeLaSalle Step Team.

Vision and hearing screening will be done for 10th graders on Monday, March 7 during Social Studies classes. Rescreening will be held Monday, March 21. Students, if you have glasses or contacts, please wear them on Monday. Thank you.

The Islanders are one game away from the boys’ basketball state tournament. DeLaSalle plays Delano on Thursday at 7:00pm at Chanhassen High School. Click here to sign up if you’d like to ride a fan bus to the game. The bus will leave from the front of De at 5:40pm. You must sign up by the start of school Thursday if you want to ride the bus.

Also, remember that student tickets cost $5 and everyone must pay.

Come play Scrabble on the first Friday of each month. Join us after school this Friday in Ms. Sullivan’s room, A206. This is very informal and you can come when you can.

Did you miss out on the last Chess Club tournament, or feel like you should have won it all? Then luckily enough, we have the perfect opportunity for you! Chess Club will meet again tomorrow until 5:00pm in A204 and will have sign-ups for the next tournament on March 10th. Players of all skill levels are welcome, and if you just have to time to stop by and play one quick game, that’s fine. See Ms. Kocourek or Anders Jenson with any questions.

The TableTop Games Club will be exploring the Forbidden Island (with a surprise guest host!) at our next meeting – tomorrow at 3:10pm in B307. You can watch the linked video (at home, as it on Youtube) to get a preview of the rules and gameplay. See Mr. Jung or Mr. Newman with any questions.

The Alpine Ski Club will go skiing at Hyland Park in Bloomington after school on Friday. Want to ski with us? Sign up here. Remember, you must fill out a liability waiver form if they have not already; visit the Student Activities office for a form. Ski club payments should be made payable to DeLaSalle High School.

Preseason Captains Practice for Track and Field are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:20-4:30pm. Meet in Mr. Pearson’s room (A202). Everyone is welcome to run! The regular season starts March 14.

We will start working with 9th graders on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday – March 7-9 – from 3:05pm – 5:30pm in the LL Gray Gym. Bring your tennis shoes, gloves, and bat, if you have one. Any questions? See Mr. Heinecke in the LTC prior to Monday.

The BA Theater Program at the University of Minnesota is hosting a BA Theater Experience event at the U on March 5th for Sophomore’s and Juniors who might be considering the U in the future. This event will give students an opportunity to take some workshops, have dinner and watch a play.  The entire event is free. If interested please email Coach Jessica by Thursday, March 3 by 3:00pm.

It’s time for the Islander Cheer Clinic! If you have younger siblings or friends who have energy and spirit, this will be an awesome day! The cheer camp includes traditional sideline cheerleading skills, as well as the major components of competition cheer: stunts and lifts, tumbling, and dance. A great camp for all kids – from beginners to experienced cheerleaders. We will put together a mini routine and end the day with a family and friends performance!
