Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

Lord, it is with joy that we look forward to the annual celebration of your birth.  We ask your blessing on us.  Keep us safe during our vacation.  Amen.

Saint John Baptist de La Salle…pray for us. Live Jesus in our hearts…forever!

The first semester ends today.

Today is also the day in which Social Studies and Theology teachers, if they choose, may offer a final exam.

Students, please update your iPad to iOS 9.2 and update all of your apps over the Christmas Break. More and more apps require that you have the latest IOS and we would like to start the semester with everyone on the same page with updates.

On December 17th, Canvas’s iOS app updated, and some of its features have changed.

  • Push Notifications are available to students. Each user can subscribe to alerts on their mobile app. This way, students can see banners or the red icon on the app with the number of notifications they have within Canvas. First, allow Canvas to send notifications. This can be set in the iOS settings. Second, open up the Canvas Mobile App. Go to settings by tapping the gear in the top right-hand corner of the app window. From there, switch the toggle for notifications, and then adjust Notification Preferences. Whichever features are green will appear in iOS notifications.
  • To change which courses are displayed on the Canvas dashboard, tap the gear in the top of the app window. Add/Remove the checkmarks to change which courses are shown.
  • To view grades, students need to press the “A+” icon next to the settings gear in the top right of the app window. If this doesn’t show as an option, close and restart the app.
  • The calendar information needs to be reset. Students will need to select the classes to display on their mobile calendar.
It is important that all students are on iOS 9.2 as well. This will reduce the number of crashes that occur with the Canvas app.

Christmas Break is December 23-January 5 and the school will be open from 8:00am-4:00pm each day, except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Please note that many staff choose to take time off during the break. You may find how to contact an individual staff member through our online Staff Directory.

Starting next semester, Miss Barry and Mr. Christianson will start a Fit Club to help you maintain or improve your fitness level through a variety of fitness activities. As part of the club, members will be given or can purchase Pivotal Fitness bands to measure activity, steps and sleep levels, plus the opportunity to monitor calorie and water intake. If interested, complete this survey or see either Miss Barry or Mr. Christianson.

The weight room will be closed the week of December 28-January 1 as construction crews do some work related to the Center for Innovative Learning project. Thank you for your understanding.

The Christmas Break is a great time to connect with an agency and complete some of your Christian Service Hours. Seniors, don’t forget that all of your hours and paper are due by January 22 – no exceptions.  You can find Christian Service information, forms and agency ideas on the DeLaSalle website. Contact Mr. CJ Hallman in the Lasallian Ministry office if you have any questions or concerns.

Great Gatherings directly support student scholarships while offering De parents an opportunity to connect with other parents in their child’s grade. The parties provide a fun, casual environment for parents to share their experiences as they and their children navigate high school – from being a 9th grader all the way to college admissions.

There are two more Great Gathering parties scheduled:

  • 11th grade: Saturday, January 16, 7:00pm
  • 12th grade: Saturday, January 9, 6:30pm

Click here if you would like to attend a party. The cost is $25 per person.

Students may now register for the next driver’s education class, which will be taught by Ray Kroll ‘60 at DeLaSalle February 16-19, 22-26, and 29. Click here to download a registration form. You may return completed registration forms to the Administration Office. Registration forms are accepted until the class is filled. Classroom instruction costs $110 and behind-the-wheel instruction costs $330; students who register for both the class and behind-the-wheel instruction will pay $399.
