Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

We are like children waiting for their presents, sometimes. Help us not to be impatient, Lord Christ, but to wait as you have told us, showing the fruits of the spirit in every thought and work. Amen

Saint John Baptist de La Salle…pray for us. Live Jesus in our hearts…forever!

We will gather immediately following first period today for our annual Christmas Liturgy and program in the Florance Center.  Please move quickly and quietly with your first period class.  Students that are participating as readers in the liturgy should arrive to the Florance Center by 8:00am for practice and check in. Band and orchestra students should be dismissed at 8:50am to prepare for prayer.

The first semester will end on Tuesday, December 22. Christmas Break is December 23-January 5 and the school will be open from 8:00am-4:00pm each day, except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Because many courses are full-year courses, assessments at the end of the first semester may vary. DeLaSalle has assigned academic departments a specific day in which teachers, if they choose, may offer a final exam:

  • Tomorrow
    -English
    -P.E./Health
    -Modern Language
  • Monday, December 21
    -Science
    -Fine Arts
    -Math
  • Tuesday, December 22
    -Social Studies
    -Theology

As a reminder, school is in session from 8:30am-3:00pm on Monday, December 21 and Tuesday, December 22.

Finally, we know that the end of the semester can be a stressful time for both students and teachers alike. That’s why we offer this tried-and-true wisdom: don’t forget to get a good night’s rest, eat breakfast each morning (the DeLaSalle Cafe is open each morning before school), and come prepared to do your best.

All 9th graders will meet during lunches today with their Islander Welcome Crew small group, the same group you met with at orientation in August. Freshmen, please get your lunch and sit with your IWC leader for a semester wrap-up meeting.

Students, the yearbook staff is trying to complete the spread about your summer vacation but they need your help. Send the best pictures from your summer vacation to yearbook@delasalle.com along with information about who is in the photo and what is going on. Please email pictures that you would like the yearbook staff to consider using in the yearbook. Please send us your pictures by this Friday at 3pm.

Also, if you have not already completed the summer survey, please click here and take 2 minutes to do so.

Looking to relax and have some fun right before cramming for finals? Then come play some chess with all your friends! Chess Club will meet again today after school until 5:00pm in A107. Players of all skill levels are welcome, and if you just have to time to stop by and play one quick game, that’s fine. See Ms. Kocourek or Anders Jenson with any questions.

The Christmas Break is a great time to connect with an agency and complete some of your Christian Service Hours. Seniors, don’t forget that all of your hours and paper are due by January 22 – no exceptions.  You can find Christian Service information, forms and agency ideas on the DeLaSalle website. Contact Mr. CJ Hallman in the Lasallian Ministry office if you have any questions or concerns.

Students may now register for the next driver’s education class, which will be taught by Ray Kroll ‘60 at DeLaSalle February 16-19, 22-26, and 29. Click here to download a registration form. You may return completed registration forms to the Administration Office. Registration forms are accepted until the class is filled. Classroom instruction costs $110 and behind-the-wheel instruction costs $330; students who register for both the class and behind-the-wheel instruction will pay $399.
