Tuesday, October 27, 2015 – Online Learning Day

Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

God, give me the grace to realize my ignorance, admit my mistakes, and recognize my needs. Amen

Saint John Baptist de La Salle…pray for us. Live Jesus in our hearts…forever!

Today is an online learning day. Students do not need to physically report to school but should check Canvas, as teachers will share their activity by 9am. You can expect 20-30 minutes of activity for each class. Teachers will be available at various times throughout the day to respond to questions. This online learning day helps us practice how learning will occur should DeLaSalle have to implement an alternative school day in the winter due to inclement weather.

Parents, learn more about DeLaSalle’s college advising program from our school counselors while enjoying cookies. Tonight at 6:45pm in the Guidance office. This is an encore of the same presentation from late September.

Volleyball sections start tonight – De is the #2 seed and we host #15 seed Fair tonight at 7:000pm. Remember that everyone, including students, must pay for sections. $8 for adults, $6 for students/seniors.

What classes should you take in 9th & 10th grade?  How many AP classes?  What is a 529 Savings Plan?  Who receives scholarship monies?  What is an ideal GPA?  It’s never too early to plan for college.  College preparation means being ready academically and financially. Now’s the time to prepare!  Please join us tomorrow at 6:30pm in the Robert Casanova Room to ask questions and review building a solid foundation for college prep timeline.

Come to the Robotics meeting after school Thursday in B316!  All are welcome to join this year’s robotics team.  No previous experience necessary.  We will have a trip to Dunwoody later in December for a robotics seminar.  See Mr. Dirlam with any questions.  The meeting will last about 25 minutes. Hope to see you there!

Freshmen, mark your calendars for the night before Halloween for a 9th grade movie night. Join your friends for a showing of “Monster House” at 7:00pm in the LL Gray Gym. The movie should be done by 9:30pm. Student Council will provide free popcorn and Halloween candy. You may purchase pop and water. Admission is $2 (or only $1 if you also bring a canned good).

Like what you saw during Diversity Week!? The first Step Team practice/informational will be held Friday at 7:30am in the Robert Casanova Room. We will discuss the season, practice schedules, expectations, financial obligations and start learning the basics of stepping. If you are interested or just want to know more, please join us at this first practice! The cut off for joining the DeLaSalle ONYX Step Team will be Tuesday, November 24.

What’s the bottom line? These babies need lotion, wipes, and bottom cream. Oh, what a difference your donation can make! Our Drive for the Little Ones ends this Friday. Bring items to Lasallian Ministry all month.

Students who played a fall sport that has ended should clean out their athletic lockers by this Friday. Student Activities staff will clean out any lockers after October 30. Any unclaimed items will be held in lost and found for some time before they are donated to Goodwill. Student athletes should remove their lock and hang it on the grate of their locker. If you are a 9th grader in PE, you can keep your same athletic locker until the end of the semester.

Teen Ministry at the Wells Church, a non-denominational church in Minneapolis, is sponsoring an event for youth ages 13-19 on Saturday (Halloween) at 7pm.
