Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

I pray to live this day in joy and thankfulness for what I have, remembering always who made me and who keeps me. Amen

Saint John Baptist de La Salle…pray for us. Live Jesus in our hearts…forever!

Tomorrow’s out-of-uniform day will be Class Color Day. Students are invited to dress in the color of their graduating class: Freshmen-Pink; Sophomores- Green; Juniors- Orange; Seniors- Blue; Staff- Red

We will gather as a community after first hour tomorrow for our all school Homecoming Liturgy. Come prepared to pray and worship.

Online sales of T-shirts ended last week. Those who ordered a shirt online may pick it up during student lunches tomorrow. A limited number of T-shirts will be available for purchase for $10 during lunches starting Sept. 16, while supplies last. .

Come tailgate before the Homecoming football game! Join us Friday from 4:30-6:15pm in the “donut” parking lot (the small parking lot off of DeLaSalle Drive) for burgers and hot dogs before the Islanders host Spring Lake Park at 7:00pm. Parents, students, and alumni are welcome. Feel free to bring food, beverages, and games!

Each DeLaSalle student may bring one guest to a school-sponsored dance. The host or guest student must pick up a Dance Guest Registration form from the Attendance Office and have it completed by the guest and faxed back to the Activities Office at least one day prior to the dance. The DeLaSalle student and guest must arrive together. The guest must present a picture ID. Prior to the dance, guests will be presented with guidelines and rules for DeLaSalle dances. With their signature, guests will confirm their understanding of the rules and give DeLaSalle school contact information to a parent or guardian. All guests are subject to the same rules as DeLaSalle students. If the rules are not followed the guest will be asked to leave.

The Homecoming Bonfire & Dance is Saturday from 7:30-11:00pm on Brothers’ Plaza and in the LL Gray Gym.

All seniors must have a senior picture taken by David Bank Studios to be included in the yearbook and the class composite picture that hangs in the hallways of DeLaSalle. A photographer from David Bank Studios will be on campus during lunches on Wednesday to take pictures. If you have not had your senior picture taken, you may go to the Robert Casanova Room during your lunch. Because Wednesday is the Class Color out-of-uniform day for Homecoming, seniors who will be having their picture taken should bring a nice top to change into for the picture; pictures are from the waist up.

If you do not get your picture taken Wednesday, you must get a senior picture taken by October 18. See Ms. Beckman with questions. This is the last chance for a FREE senior picture for the yearbook and class composite.

The Library & Technology Center will close at 5:00pm on Thursday to set up for the DeLaSalle Board of Trustees meeting later that evening. Thank you.

Football pictures have arrived. If you ordered pictures, you may pick them up in the Student Activities office!

Apple will be releasing a software update for the iPad this Wednesday called iOS 9. Students should NOT update their iPad with the new operating system until DeLaSalle’s technology team has tested school apps for iOS 9 compatibility and functionality in the school environment so we can transition smoothly to the new software.

Please ignore any iOS 9 software update notifications or prompts that appear on your iPad until further notice from DeLaSalle.

Students who update to iOS 9 before given permission will have restrictions placed on their device and all personal apps will be deleted for the remainder of the semester.

Our Lord of the Rings Book Club has completed one reading of this classic tale, and we are ready to circle back. But, we decided to start with The Hobbit this time. Join us for an informational meeting on Tuesday, September 22 at 3:10pm in Ms. Priem’s room, B213. This short meeting will be a time to see who is interested, and to pick the best day of the week for our book club to meet. Refreshments will be served – of course! Questions? Ask Ms. Arens, Mr. Newman, Ms. Priem, or Ms. Wojda.

DeLaSalle has a chance to win $10,000 through a Twitter contest involving the car-sharing company @car2go. On your personal Twitter or Instagram account, post using #car2GoIslanders to show your school spirit!

How would you like to see all of the Broadway touring musicals coming to Minneapolis for free? If you love musical theatre, don’t miss participating in this activity. The Critical Review program invites high students throughout the Twin Cities to see the whole season free and in addition learn the skills of a professional theatre critic and much more. Some show highlights this season are: The Little Mermaid; Beautiful — The Carole King Musical; Newsies; The Book of Mormon; and The Lion King.  Click here for more information. If you have questions, see Ms. Zawislak in B212. Applications are now available online. If you are interested in participating in the program, you must apply on line. The deadline is October 16th – but the sooner, the better.
