We have had a great school year and want to end strong!! We hope that this has been a productive, exciting, and memorable year for all of you. Ms. Weeks has a few things for us to keep in mind as we prepare to finish the year:

Attendance:

  • Arriving to school and class on time is just as important now as it was in the beginning of the school year. When the bell rings, you should be in class, prepared to learn. Remember that finals are right around the corner and you want to be at your academic best!

Uniforms:

  • Let’s stay aware of our uniform appearance and keep it sharp.
  • Keep your shirt tucked in.
  • With the nicer weather, don’t forget the shoe policy. No sandals or slippers style shoes. Shoes must cover the entire foot and meet color standards.
  • Skirts, shorts, and pants must not be rolled at the waist or hems.
  • Pants must be solid black or khaki/tan and are to be full leg length, with inset pockets. No cargo pants, skinny leg pants, or jean style khakis.
  • Students not in proper uniform may be asked to change into an item from the loaner closet.

Managing Stress:

  • The end of the school year can be stressful if not managed.
  • Get plenty of rest, eat breakfast, and take care of yourself. You need to be at your best each school day.
  • Reach out for support if you need to. Teachers, counselors, mentors, friends, etc.
  • Maintain your academic discipline, remember that you are almost finished with this school year and want to see success from all the hard work you have provided all year.
  • It’s alright to feel ready to end the school year, but we aren’t done yet, so hang in there and finish strong! Pay attention in your classes and give your best efforts!

After School:

  • At 3:30 when the bells ring, if you are remaining on campus and not in activities you must be in a supervised area: the Islander Commons (Casanova Room), library, or in a classroom getting help, or in a supervised activity.
  • Roaming around the island before or after school, especially near railroad tracks and the river, is not permitted and is a serious safety concern. Students found trespassing on the tracks or around the island are subject to school consequences.
  • All students must plan to leave campus by 6pm each school day, unless otherwise noted, or you are in an approved school activity. Please make appropriate transportation arrangements.

Elections are today in Social Studies classes for Student Council executive board positions. Meanwhile, the deadline to submit a completed nomination for class representative is this Thursday at 4:00pm in Ms. Weeks’s office. You can find nomination forms int he Main Office. You must also pick up an information sheet along with the nomination form to understand Student Council Expectations.

See Ms. Weeks or Mr. Zavitz with any questions about the elections process or student council requirements.

Good luck to those taking Advanced Placement (AP) exams today.

  • AP US Government (LL Gray Gym). This test starts at 8:30am.

Hallway Closings: The hallway leading to the LL Gray gym will be closed all day until testing concludes around 11:30am. Students may not use the drinking fountain in that area unless they are in gym class.

Tomorrow’s test: Tomorrow’s test is AP English Language, located in the LL Gray gym.  Testers should report to the LL Gray gym beginning at 8:10am.  This test is the last AP test this spring.

Seniors, if you are not in a spring sport and you have not cleaned out your locker in the boys/girls locker room, please do so by Thursday!  All items will be removed and donated at the end of the school year.

This summer, DeLaSalle will be refreshing the devices for its IslePad one-to-one program with the purchase of new iPad Air devices. As part of this transition, DeLaSalle is offering students the opportunity to purchase their current iPad 2 device for $100. The last day to place an order is this Friday (May 15). This purchase price includes the case and charger that is currently assigned to the student. Click here to find the iPad Purchase Form. Devices that are not purchased will need to be returned on the last day of classes. Charges will be incurred for any damage to the device or charger.

The yearbook publishing company has made an extra 25 copies of the book available to us. If you would still like a yearbook, please bring in your order form and payment to Ms. Beckman in the LTC or to Mr. Lemon in the Attendance Office as soon as possible. Thank you.

Thanks to all who have taken part in the tutoring – either as a tutor or someone who is being tutored. Tutoring for all subjects ends this Thursday. Students, please prepare ahead of time.

Thank you to all who took part in our Strikeout Cancer effort at Saturday’s Islander baseball games. We raised $653 – about $254 more than last year. Proceeds benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Congratulations to senior Mia Lloyd for making the 2015 Class AA All Star team. Mia will take part in the All Star series June 7 at Caswell Park in North Mankato.  Games are slated for noon and 2pm.  Congrats Mia!

Seniors – on Wednesday, May 20 (the evening before graduation), we will gather in the Main Gym for our Baccalaureate Mass, Senior Awards and Reception. You are asked to arrive and line up in the Robert Casanova Room by 6:15pm.

Congratulations to Nicholai Anderson-Pena, who won the drawing for the dorm size refrigerator. All seniors had a chance to enter the raffle on National College Decision Day May 1. Mr. Benson pulled the winning name this past Friday.

The DeLaSalle Cafe is a pre paid lunch account system. As of today, if your account has a negative balance, you will not be able to purchase any items in the Cafe. All students who do have a negative balance will be offered a sack lunch with a cheese sandwich, fruit and milk.
