Starting today – continuing through the end of this school year – DeLaSalle will pilot a one-way traffic flow in front of the school. School days between 7:30-8:30am and 2:30-3:30pm, vehicles will be directed one-way westbound in front of DeLaSalle toward West Island Avenue. Parents may drop off their children along the one-way route in the morning, but must wait on West Island Avenue to pick up students in the afternoon. Vehicle traffic approaching DeLaSalle from West Island Avenue will not be able to turn right onto DeLaSalle Drive.

The DeLaSalle Cafe is a pre paid lunch account system. As of today, if your account has a negative balance, you will not be able to purchase any items in the Cafe. All students who do have a negative balance will be offered a sack lunch with a cheese sandwich, fruit and milk.
Advanced Placement (AP) exams start today.
- AP Chemistry (Robert Casanova Room): This test began this morning at 8:00 am will conclude about 12:00pm.
- AP Psychology (LL Gray Gym): Students taking this test will attend periods 1, 2 and 3 today and eat lunch period 4. All students taking the test will go to the LL Grey Gym after period four is over to check in for the test.
Hallway Closings: The second floor hallway between the Library and the Robert Casanova room will be closed this morning to maintain a quiet testing area for students. Students will need to pass on the first floor this morning. The test is expected to conclude around11:45am. Please be respectful of those who are testing.
Tomorrow’s test: AP Calculus AB in the LL Gray gym and AP Calculus BC in the Robert Casanova room. Students should report to their testing area by 8:15am. The hallway between the library and the Robert Casanova room will be closed in the morning and students will need to pass on the first floor.
This summer, DeLaSalle will be refreshing the devices for its IslePad one-to-one program with the purchase of new iPad Air devices. As part of this transition, DeLaSalle is offering students the opportunity to purchase their current iPad 2 device for $100. You may begin placing orders today. The last day to place an order is May 15. This purchase price includes the case and charger that is currently assigned to the student. Click here to find the iPad Purchase Form. Devices that are not purchased will need to be returned on the last day of classes. Charges will be incurred for any damage to the device or charger.
Congratulations to the juniors behind the four projects that qualified Saturday for the National History Day competition. Ben Mandler earned first place at state for his website “Abolishing the Ottoman Caliphate”. Annie Dubner took second place for her performance “Alan Lomax”. Sarah Kleinschmidt, Rachel Brown, and Julia Conway earned second place for their group exhibit “The Rainbow Family.” And Marie Loye, Katie Elfstrand and Meara Cline won second place for their group website “Charles Fremont Fight: The Eugenics Movement in Minnesota”. All four projects will now compete at nationals at the University of Maryland June 13-19l. No other Minnesota high school had multiple History Day national finalists.
Other Islanders placed on Saturday as well, though their projects did not advance to National History Day.

Come to the Spring Concert on Wednesday night to hear your classmates sing and play their hearts out. The concert starts at 7:00pm in the Florance Center; doors open at 6:30pm. Please consider carpooling that day so we can have parking spaces for our many visitors.
On Thursday, we will gather in the Main Gym at the end of the day to celebrate our annual Founder’s Day Mass. Founder’s Day is an event dedicated to recognizing the founder of the Christian Brothers and namesake of our school, St. John Baptist de La Salle. Our celebrant for Mass will be His Excellency Bishop Andrew Cozzens. We will remember three Christian Brothers who died this year for the deep impact they left on DeLaSalle – Brothers Dominic Kennedy, Cyril Litecky, and Basil Rothweiler. We will take time to honor our Alumni Scholarship, Giving Tree, and Jefferson Award recipients as well as two staff members with the Distinguished Lasallian Educator Award and the Liemandt Excellence in Teaching Award.
Thanks to all who have taken part in the Science tutoring – either as a tutor or someone who is being tutored. Science tutoring ends Thursday, May 14.

Congratulations to Taylor Toney, who has been named DeLaSalle’s ATHENA Award recipient. Taylor was recognized at a lunch Friday. She is a multi-year letter winner in basketball, track, and volleyball. As a three sport athlete for most of her high school career, Taylor received All Conference honors six times in three different sports as an Islander. She was also a member of the 2012 and 2013 state champion girls’ basketball teams. She is a quiet leader who is well respected by all of her DeLaSalle coaches.
If you are interested in serving as a retreat team member for the 2015-16 school year, please complete this application no later than Friday, May 15. This team also serves as the Islander Welcome Crew and other student leadership throughout the school year. Thank you for your interest.
Anyone who has ordered a yearbook has been entered into a drawing for a free yearbook. Yearbook orders received by Wednesday will be entered into Thursday’s drawing.

Nice job guessing how many are in the jars…..we have some winners and some who got super close. The winners should see Ms. Allen in the Library & Technology Center to claim their prize. Congratulations to Tinsae Mekonnen who guessed 67 gumballs in the Large jar, there was actually 68. Congratulations to Martha Broadnax who guessed 32 gumballs in the Small jar, there were actually 34. And congratulations to Mali Franzese for guessing 489 M&M’s, there was actually 482.
Looking for 4 students to help with an event on Tuesday, May 12 for 4 hours. You would be a greeter for the entire event. If you are interested, please email Mr. Hallman by Tuesday.
