Student Council will sponsor an Out of Uniform Day today. Students must purchase and wear a wristband in order to be out of uniform or they must wear their school uniform. Wristbands will be sold for $2 before school today.

Remember, all out of uniform guidelines in the Student-Parent handbook apply. This means “No yoga pants, halter tops, tank tops, or bare midriffs; no sunglasses; and only knee length shorts and skirts will be permitted.”

Proceeds from this Out of Uniform Day will benefit Mwangaza College in Kenya to help provide needed materials for the students there to continue their education.

Hey Islanders…let’s see your school spirit today. We’ll gather in the Main Gym after 8th hour for a Pepfest to recognize our state champion boys’ basketball team as well as spring sports and activities. Let us hear your battle cry…!

All students who would like to volunteer this year at Starry Night Prom must attend a meeting today – either before school starting at 7:30am or during your lunch period – again in the Robert Casanova Room. This year, Starry Night Prom is on Saturday, May 2.

The Art department is excited to announce DeLaSalle’s 2015 Senior Art Show. Any senior who has taken two or more art classes is eligible to submit one example of their best art work. The collection will be on display at Sebastian Joe’s from May 2nd through May 16th. If you’d like more information, please see Ms. Lundstrum. Forms may be picked up from the folder on the door of B109. Permission/entry forms are due Friday, March 27th.

Students, enjoy the spring break next week. And remember, there are no classes on the Monday after Easter (April 6). Classes resume on Tuesday, April 7.

Any broken or damaged iPads should be turned into the LTC as soon as the damage occurs. If you have a damaged or broken iPad, you are REQUIRED to turn it into the LTC by Friday, March 27.

Students, please do not walk along the railroad tracks at any time. Even if you do not see a train coming, this is very unsafe to do, and it is actually considered trespassing and against the law. See Ms. Weeks with any questions.

Students, please remember that you must complete and return an Anticipated Absence form if you know you will be away from school (e.g. a doctor’s appointment, family vacation, etc.). The Student-Parent Handbook says the form must be approved by the Dean of Students or Assistant Principal and turned in to the Main Office prior to the absence. It is also your responsibility to work with teachers to make up any work you may miss.

If you love service and learning, check out this unique summer opportunity with Brandeis University. All interested students should see their college adviser in order to be nominated.

Juniors are encouraged to register for an optional six-week class that will help prepare them for the June 13 ACT exam. The ACT Ready class builds test-taking skills through study guides and actual ACT tests. On average, students who complete all assignments increase their ACT scores by 3 to 5 composite points, translating to an overall 20% to 25% improvement in their national percentile rankings. Completed registration forms, along with the $150 registration fee, are due to Mrs. McAdams in the Guidance office no later than April 1. Please note that classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. See Mrs. McAdams with any questions.
