School will be dismissed at 1:56pm today to give faculty time to prepare for Parent-Student-Teacher conferences. Afternoon transportation routes will leave at 2:10pm.

Because of Parent-Student-Teacher conferences, there will be no school on Friday. Students, enjoy the 3-day weekend!

Students, please do not walk along the railroad tracks at any time. Even if you do not see a train coming, this is very unsafe to do, and it is actually considered trespassing and against the law. See Ms. Weeks with any questions.

The Minnesota Department of Education recently notified DeLaSalle of a change in AP exam fees and subsidies, which brings the cost up $10 per test, changing the total cost to $43.00 per test.  DeLaSalle started the registration and payment process prior to this information becoming available.

If you have already paid for your test please send an additional $10 per test by Friday, March 20. Students who qualify for free of reduced lunch will continue to have a cost of $0 for each test.  A limited number of scholarships are still available.

Any DeLaSalle student is invited to participate on the committee that organizes Starry Night Prom by attending the mandatory meetings. The event is a prom for people in the greater community living with disabilities and will be held here at DeLaSalle on Saturday, May 2. Any student who HAS NOT participated in the past and would like to join the committee, must attend an orientation session on Monday, March 23 during your lunch period in the Robert Casanova Room. All participants must attend a meeting on Thursday, March 26 with 2 options. 1) In the morning from 7:30-8:20am OR 2) during your lunch. As always, please pick up your lunch and come to the Casanova Room promptly.

Lasallian Ministry does NOT meet tomorrow. BUT, Game Day will still happen during lunches tomorrow. Come to the Lasallian Ministry office to play some fun games with other classmates.

Seniors, if you haven’t already done so, please make sure to sign your name at lunch today for your senior gift. Volunteers will be at a table in the Florance Center. We want to make sure that your name is included on the gift. Thank you.

The DeLaSalle Theatre student ensemble presents The Cask of Amontillado, based on the short story by Edgar Allen Poe, tomorrow and Saturday at the Phoenix Theatre (2605 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis). Shows are at 7:00pm on March 20 and at 3:00pm and 7:00pm on March 21. Tickets are $12. DeLaSalle students get in free with a current school ID. Email Mr. Buffington with questions.

Congratulations to Sacar Anim ‘15, who the Associated Press has named as its boys’ basketball Player of the Year. Joining Sacar on the AP All-State team are J.T. Gibson (Champlin Park), Marshawn Wilson (Hill-Murray), Bjorn Broman (Lakeview Christian Academy), and Gary Trent Jr. (Apple Valley). Anim has committed to play college at Marquette University next year.

Winter sports have ended so it’s time to clean out your locker in the locker room.  Please remove your items as soon as possible as spring sports have started.  If you don’t have your locker cleared out by Wednesday, your items will be removed for you.

Locker rooms are opened only to PE students during the day. Thank you.

Families, it’s time to celebrate our wonderful staff at DeLaSalle. Please join the Parent Association in a day of showing our appreciation for all they do to make DE a wonderful place. The annual Staff Appreciation Day is Wednesday, April 29. We are looking for people to give their time and talents. We need morning greeters and breakfast servers, lunchtime set-up and servers and people to donate breakfast items, lunch desserts, and beverages for the day! Please click here to sign up! Normandale Community College will host a Latino Family Night on Tuesday, March 24 from 5 to 7pm in the Kopp Student Center. The night will help students who would be first generation to college and their parents gain a better understanding about the college and resources available to assist them including:

  • A panel of Latino Normandale students sharing their experiences at the college
  • Information about the MN Dream Act & FAFSA
  • Scholarships for undocumented students

The $20 application fee will be waived for anyone submitting and application for admission at the event.
