Congratulations to the varsity boys’ basketball team, which won the section championship Friday night and advanced to the Class 3A state tournament.

DeLaSalle earned the #1 seed and hosts Albany High School in the state quarterfinal on Wednesday, March 11 at 10:00am at Williams Arena. Because of the game, classes are canceled on March 11. Morning transportation routes will operate normally for those students who plan to ride to school to catch a fan bus. Afternoon transportation routes will leave DeLaSalle at 1:00pm. Fan buses to Wednesday’s game will leave from the front of DeLaSalle starting at 9:00am

You can pre-buy tickets to Wednesday’s game tomorrow before and after school in Albers Atrium and during lunches in the Florance Center. Looking for Islander spirit wear? The School Store will be open before and after school – and during lunches today and tomorrow.

You can find more information about the state tournament on our March Madness webpage.

The varsity girls’ basketball team is one win away from going to the state tournament. The Islanders face Park Center in the section championship Thursday night at 6:00pm at Anoka High School. Students, sign up here to ride a fan bus to the game. The bus leaves from the front of DeLaSalle at 4:45pm.

All Advanced Placement students are reminded to register and pay for AP exams before Monday, March 16. If you are in an AP class, you should have received a link to a Google form, which you need to fill out to register for all of your AP tests. Thank you to those who have already done this!

Each exam costs $33. if students qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch, then each test is free but students must still complete the registration form. If you pay by cash, please place in an envelope clearly marked with the student’s first and last name, the names of the tests, and the amount included in the envelope. Please pay the exact amount; change is not available. If you pay by check, please pay for all tests with one check, which can be made payable to DLS AP Program. Remember to include the student’s name in the check memo. Please pay Ms. Carter directly in person in B104.

A limited number of scholarships are available for students who have a financial barrier paying $33 per test but do not qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch. These students should see Ms. Carter ASAP.

Please contact Ms. Carter with any questions about registration or payment.

Auditions are next week for Frankenstein, the spring production from DeLaSalle Theatre. Auditions are Monday and Tuesday from 3:30-5:30pm in the Music Room. Pick either date to audition. We encourage all interested students to audition for one of 10 roles. All skill levels are welcome. We are also looking for 2 musicians and 1 singer. The show will be performed April 16-18. Rehearsals are after school and evening on 3 to 5 times a week between March 16-April 15. Email Mr. Buffington with questions.

The play features the story of Dr. Victor Frankenstein, who discovers the secret of animating lifeless matter and, by assembling body parts, creates a Creature who vows revenge on his creator after being rejected from society.

Good luck to Leo Jiang ‘15, who qualified for and will compete today in the 31st annual Minnesota State High School Math League tournament. Leo led DeLaSalle’s Math League team as the top scorer this season and tied for 5th in the Tri Metro Math League division.

The spring sports season is upon us. Click here to find complete Spring Sports information, including first day practice information for other sports and the paperwork you’re required to have on file in order to participate in a sport or activity.

Please join the Parent Association Monday at 6:30pm in the Robert Casanova Room as we welcome Theology teacher Mary Joy Zawislak, who will provide an overview of the Theology department and discuss young adult spirituality. We will discuss how to talk with teens about their spirituality related to relevant issues in their world.
