Wednesday, February 18, 2015 – Ash Wednesday

Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.

May this Lent be a time for me to renew my relationship with God so that, like Christ, I can respond to the plight of my family, friends, and strangers. Amen

Saint John Baptist de La Salle…pray for us. Live Jesus in our hearts…forever!

Today after 1st hour, we gather as a school community for our Ash Wednesday Mass.  This marks the beginning of the Lenten season, 40 days in preparation before the death and Resurrection of our savior, Jesus Christ and the Easter Season. Please be quiet and respectful as you gather for Mass. Thank you.

The fryer in the kitchen will be out of service today for repairs. That means kitchen staff cannot make French fries as part of lunch service. Thank you for your patience.

The GREEN team recently did a waste sort, which helps us learn how much and the kind of waste we collect. [We have to do the sort as part of our recycling grant with Hennepin County.] The good news is that we do well at recycling the right items. The bad news? 81 percent of the material that you throw into the trash at lunch actually belongs in the organics or recycling cans. All you need to do is take a few extra seconds at lunch to make sure the right materials end up in the right bins. We could be producing 81 percent less trash than we currently do.

The only things that need to go into trash are:
Hamburger/cookie bags
Chip bags
Dressing/mayo packets
Plastic wrap
