Students Explore the Realities of Injustice

On February 6-8th, eight DeLaSalle students will travel to Chicago and participate in the Br. David Darst Center Urban Immersion Retreat. The Urban Immersion Retreat is a workshop retreat that serves as a tool to explore issues of justice and the reality of oppression. This group of students will visit local agencies like The Chicago Food Depository, Su Casa, The Port, San Miguel Schools, Chicago Youth Centers and St. Martin DePorres, which serve vulnerable individuals and families.  Educational sessions will help them reflect on their experiences while providing a safe environment to challenge stereotypes, confront fears, and break down barriers. Daily communal prayer, meal preparation, recreational and educational activities will round out the weekend. Retreatants will be awarded 15 Christian Service hours upon completion of the retreat.

De Celebrates Winterfest Week January 26-31st

Winterfest Week is always a highlight of the Second Semester for the DeLaSalle community. Students and staff alike dressed up as they participated in themed spirit days. Special after school activities included powderpuff volleyball, tubing and on Thursday, we gathered together for prayer at our Catholic Schools Week Liturgy. On the last day of Winterfest, student council also helped host our annual Blood Drive with Memorial Blood Centers. The students lived the school theme this week as they, not only continue to find their delight in the Lord (Psalm 37:4), but also find delight in their school community, their friends, and themselves.
