On Monday evening, we welcome prospective students and their families to DeLaSalle at our second Open House. So that we can clean our campus and prepare for our guests, please plan to leave campus immediately after school unless you are involved in an after school activity. The Open House gives us a chance to inform prospective families about our mission and philosophy.

Classes will start 2 hours late – at 10:30am – on Tuesday, January 13. The late start offers faculty an opportunity to work on their academic department goals. Remember, morning bus service will also run two hours later than normal on Tuesday. You may always find the most up-to-date school calendar information on the School Calendar webpage.

Please note: The DeLaSalle Cafe does not serve breakfast on late start days.

Join The Lord of the Rings Book Club today. We will discuss The Two Towers, Book 4, Chapters 2-4.

Ninth graders – tomorrow, you will gather for your first class retreat. This is a full day event where you have the opportunity to meet with your classmates, build class unity and share. Here are some details regarding your retreat:

  • Attendance is mandatory. If you miss the retreat day you are required to attend a make-up retreat through the guidance of Lasallian Ministry.
  • You must be in uniform on retreat day.
  • Bring a bag lunch, juice or water will be provided.
  • Leave ALL books, bags, headphones, cell phones, iPads, etc. at home or school. These items are not allowed on retreat.
  • The retreat will run during the school day only. You will check in to first hour for attendance and announcements and will move to the Albers Atrium to board buses which will bring you to the retreat site.
  • Please come with an open and positive attitude and you will have fun.
  • See Ms. Hodapp in Lasallian Ministry with any questions or concerns.

Twelfth graders selected for the 9th grade retreat team: Please don’t forget that we meet at St. Maron’s Catholic Church at 7:40am tomorrow. Please complete your request for absence form and pick up a t-Shirt in Lasallian Ministry, if you need one.

DeLaSalle is exploring the idea of adding boys’ and girls’ lacrosse for the spring sports season. On the girls’ side, we have an opportunity to co op with Minnehaha Academy which currently has an existing program. On the boys’ side, we would create a brand new co-op program with Minnehaha Academy, St. Croix Lutheran, St. Agnes, St. Paul Academy and possibly one more school.

DeLaSalle students who want to participate in lacrosse must pay a non-refundable $100 registration fee no later than Thursday, January 15. Checks can be made payable to DeLaSalle High School and returned to the Student Activities office. We will host an informational meeting on Wednesday, January 14 at 6:00pm in the Robert Casanova room. You can turn in checks at the meeting. We strongly encourage you to attend the meeting if you are interested in playing.

You can now sign up for the next driver’s education class, which will be offered in February. The class, which is taught by DeLaSalle alum Ray Kroll ’60, offers thirty hours of instruction over 10 days (Feb. 9-13, 16, 17, 19, and 20 from 3:30-6:50pm and Feb. 14 from 9:00am-12:20pm). Please note that there is a mandatory parent meeting on Monday, February 9 from 7:00-8:30pm. Contact Mr. Kroll directly with questions at 612-377-5533. You may return completed applications to the Administration Office.

Lasallian Ministry will not meet this week or next.  Our first meeting for the new year will be on Thursday, January 22 from 7:30-8:20am in the Robert Casanova Room.  All are welcome.

The Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity at the University of Minnesota will offer a weekly ACT/SAT review for underserved students from January 10-March 14. This is a free, very comprehensive ACT/SAT review course for underserved high school students. The main goal of the review is to provide information and opportunities that will enable you to increase your college admission test scores and college preparedness so that they will have a better chance of: 1) going to the college of you choice, 2) receiving merit scholarships to go to college, and 3) being successful once you are in college.

To pre-register, please include your name, address, telephone number, name of current school, and grade level to email address: actsat@umn.edu. Pre-registration gives you priority but does not guarantee you a place in the program.
