DeLaSalle will operate during normal business hours – from 8:00am-4:00pm – during the
Christmas Break. The building will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Please note that many staff choose to take time off during the break. You may find how to contact an individual staff member through our online Staff Directory.

The DeLaSalle School Store will operate on a modified schedule during the Christmas Break. Please contact Douge Schildgen at 612.859.5652 to schedule an appointment. The School Store will be open, by appointment only, during these times:

  • Monday, Dec. 22: 10:00am-3:00pm
  • Tuesday, Dec. 23: 10:00am-3:00pm
  • Wednesday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve)-Monday, Dec. 29: Closed
  • Tuesday, Dec. 30: 10:00am-3:00pm
  • Wednesday, Dec. 31 (New Year’s Eve)-Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015: Closed

Some of the new apps and other technology uses the IOS 8 System, therefore DeLaSalle is requiring you to update your device to iOS 8 over Christmas break. Before you update, back up your documents using iCloud in settings and in your GoodReader app. You can find videos on how to update and back up your device on the Student Technology page in Canvas. This is a school wide requirement and will need to be completed before returning from break.

In order to update you must have at least 4.5GB of storage on your device. If you do not have 4.5GB you will need to delete some applications. Start by deleting personal apps and photos followed by school apps that you do not use. If you still need more room, delete iTunes U. When the update is complete you will be able to redownload the apps that were deleted. If you are still having issues with clearing enough space, please email support@delasalle.com.

The Christmas Break is a great time to connect with an agency and complete some of your Christian Service Hours. Seniors, don’t forget that all of your Christian Service hours and paper are due by January 23, THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS. You can find more information, including forms and ideas about where to volunteer, on the Christian Service webpage.

The second semester starts on Monday, January 5, 2015. Students may find their second semester course schedules within the Canvas learning management system.

Students who wish to request a course change must do so through the Office of Student Services. The Student-Parent Handbook outlines policies about requesting a course change on page 13.

Join us for a panel discussion of young De alums currently in college, sharing their retrospective wisdom about the college planning process, transitions, and first-year experience with current De parents. The panel discussion is Monday, January 5, at 6:30pm in the Robert Casanova Room. Recommended for all parents in a college prep school, but this program may be particularly helpful to parents of current juniors and seniors. Note: The Parent Association will meet on the FIRST Monday in January due to the January 12 Open House.

All students are welcome to participate in Exposed Brick Theatre’s residency at DeLaSalle. If you are interested, then please attend a brief informational meeting at the beginning of lunches on Tuesday, January 6, in the Lasallian Ministry office. Do not bring your lunch as the meeting will only take 7-10 minutes. If you cannot attend the meeting but are still interested, please e-mail Ms. Hodapp.

Ms Beckman is putting together another service trip to Colorado Springs, CO. Students who go on the trip will receive 40 Christian Service hours. The focus of the trip will be working with organizations to help rebuild the Colorado National Parks that were destroyed by forest fires along with other service opportunities.

Gain some valuable job training and get paid to work at Minneapolis businesses and non-profits through the City of Minneapolis Step Up Summer Jobs Program. You must live in Minneapolis, be 14 or older and meet income guidelines. You may only apply online. Click here to apply. The application deadline is February 18, 2015.

Applicants must check their email regularly for updates and will receive notice by the week of March 2nd. Training begins as early as March 7th. Students placed in a job will work from June 15 to August 14, 2015. The job training will take place at MCTC.

The Lord of the Rings Book Club is growing!  Join us for our next meeting on Thursday, January 8.  We will be discussing The Two Towers, Book 4, Chapters 2-4.  Have a nice cup of tea and enjoy this classic over break.  See you in January!
