SOCIAL JUSTICE WEEK Today a small group of students will be participating in lunchtime workshops on Human Trafficking with Sgt. John Bandemer from the St. Paul Police department. In a 2007 statement entitled On Human Trafficking the U.S. bishops said, “Human trafficking is a horrific crime against the basic dignity and rights of the human person. All efforts must be expended to end it. In the end, we must work together – church, state, and community – to eliminate the root causes and markets that permit traffickers to flourish; to make whole the survivors of this crime; and to ensure that, one day soon, trafficking in human persons vanishes from the face of the earth.” PRAYER FOR THOSE WHO ARE HOMELESS When women and their children are living in cars because they cannot pay the rent on an apartment because they must use the money they do earn for food, there is something wrong with our society. Let us pray this month for those who are homeless and let us recognize and appreciate what each of us calls home. THIS WEEK'S ACTIVITIES |
